Episode 3 had us with the cat and chase-mouse, and a sad storyline that showed why the couple’s marriage flopped. But Episode 4 shifts the series into full-blown thriller territory. The pace rarely slows as the drama gives us multiple storylines: an intense manhunt, a chilling serial kidnapper, a former detective seeking revenge, and a wife fighting to escape.

The Husband Episode 4 Review
The Marriage That Fell Apart
We have another flashback that shows what Tae-ju and Se-yun’s married life was like. Se-yun is seen waiting for Tae-ju every day and is worried about him because he’s been obsessed with work, saving lives and missing out on quality time with family. Now we understand why Se-yun blamed him for their daughter’s death because it wasn’t an overnight end, but days of being left out made the wife end it all for once.
None of them is at fault, but all they needed was proper communication and work-life balance, which could have saved not just their marriage but their child, too.
Tae-ju Is Becoming More Dangerous
Tae-ju is trying his best to escape the cops. However, during the struggle, one of the cops gets injured. Tae-ju, who is morally the right guy, stops his pursuit and aids the officer and even calls an ambulance before escaping again.
It’s a subtle reminder that despite becoming a suspect, Tae-ju hasn’t abandoned his principles. But to make things worse, he steals the officer’s gun, and this makes the police wonder whether he tended to the wounds or just wanted the gun. The deeper he rushes to the rescue mission, the more the criminal turns out to be everyone believes him to be.
Su-hyeong is a Welcome Addition
The mysterious stranger who asked Tae-ju to visit him is revealed to be Su-hyeong, a former police officer whose own wife disappeared six years earlier. When he shares his story, it is also very similar in a haunting way. He also received a ransom demand, but despite paying an enormous amount, his wife never returned.
Instead of moving on, Su-hyeong has spent years obsessively piecing together clues, convinced that Tae-ju’s wife was kidnapped by the same guy. Their uneasy alliance feels natural because neither man fully trusts the other. They’re united not by friendship but by shared desperation.
Mr Noh Becomes Truly Terrifying
Previously, Noh’s outside appearance as an innocent man made him look even more terrifying. Episode 4 stresses that character arc. After returning to his hideout and discovering Se-yun attempting to escape, he brutally hits her and knocks her unconscious. He then proceeds to do the worst act.
He murders Seon-ja with a sledgehammer while forcing Se-yun to hear the brutal scream. It was so disturbing and unsettling because we could truly see how terrible a villain he is. Mr Noh never raises his voice or loses control. His calmness is exactly what makes him so frightening. It’s also a turning point for Se-yun. Instead of begging for mercy, she defiantly challenges him to kill her as well, refusing to let fear completely consume her.
Everyone Thinks Tae-ju is the Villain
Everything and everyone around Tae-ju makes it worse for him. After breaking into his in-laws’ home to retrieve the ransom money, he appears to be the criminal. Even though he repeatedly insists Se-yun is still alive and the money is needed to save her, nobody believes him. Because he isn’t patient enough to let them clearly know, but is acting quite actively. But can we blame him?
His in-laws assume he only married their daughter for wealth, while the police become even more convinced of his guilt after he fires warning shots during his escape. The media only amplifies the narrative, painting Tae-ju as a dangerous criminal on the run. Ironically, the only people beginning to believe in him are complete strangers like Su-hyeong, and even one of his colleagues, Chi-ung, who unexpectedly defends his character at the hospital.
A Brilliant Cliffhanger
The episode ends on an excellent note. As Se-yun searches for a way to escape the prison, she spots a small piece of metal beneath the door. At the same time, Mr Noh’s surveillance system is suddenly interrupted, and we see Tae-ju appearing on the monitor, directly looking at Noh. It’s pretty thrilling because we know that Tae-ju has finally found his prey.
Final Thoughts
Episode 4 was chilling, cold and very unsettling, making it one of the series’ best episodes. The suspense keeps escalating, the emotional storytelling remains strong, and the introduction of Su-hyeong adds a new perception to the storyline. Why is the kidnapper obsessed with kidnapping wives and killing them? Why does he ask for money and never return the women? Why is he picking out specific women?
With Tae-ju closing in on the kidnapper and Se-yun refusing to surrender, the series has reached a point where every move feels like it could change everything.
