How did the brothers react after finding their parents’ suspected killer?

Both Tagusari brothers were extremely conflicted with the presence of this new man who could be their parents’ killer. Apparently, he is suffering from cancer, and he did not go to a hospital to get treatment earlier for some reason. Now they suspect that if this guy dies because of his illness, they will never be able to take revenge on him. This fact almost started a fight between the two brothers.

Makoto becomes too aggressive with the idea of not being able to take revenge anymore, and Minoru tries to calm him down.

Was there any other case in this episode?

In this episode, the brothers also tackle another new case of someone dying in a burning building. A young woman lost her life after someone pushed a burning object through her mail compartment. The brothers begin their investigation and find out that the girl was being stalked by someone. She talked about this Togo guy to her friend, and she’s the last one with wom the victim contacted, after which she died.

What did the investigation reveal?

The brothers find out that there was a bit of grass in the dead woman’s fingernails. Makoto theorised that she may have tried to claw at the tatami mat when she was suffocating. However, Minoru revealed how she could have just left if she wanted to in the first place. There must be a reason she decided to stay behind even when the room was burning.

When the brothers go to the crime scene, they find gold bars hidden inside the tatami mats. This takes the whole investigation in a completely different direction. Makoto then goes to Haruko to find Togo, and Kudo follows him to Haruko’s place. Here, Kudo also invites Makoto out for dinner, but he refuses her.

What did the flashback show in this episode?

Throughout the episode, we again see flashbacks of the past from the perspective of the brothers. We also see how Mogi became a victim of a fire accident, and this scarred him for life. On the other hand, we also see how important Haruko is to both brothers. She helped them when they were young and emotionally supported them when they were the most vulnerable.

What happens to Tsuda?

Tsuda finally wakes up, and Minoru decides that he will take on his questioning without the presence of Makoto. Just when they thought that they would be able to get information out of Tsuda, they learned that he had died. It is still unclear whether he actually died of natural causes or was killed.

Later, when they go through Tsuda’s things, they find a number. Then, when they call, an unexpected person picks up the phone.

What worked and what did not work?

This episode was pretty intense, and at the same time, the emotional scenes work very well. We get a bit more context on the bond the brothers have with all the other characters. Apart from that, Suda’s death works as a solid twist, opening the door for a new suspect and deepening the mystery. Overall, there is nothing that stood out as a drawback.
