My Dress-Up Darling Episode 7 Recap

The episode kicks off with Marin brimming with joy after receiving a plush toy from Gojo. She openly admits her huge crush on him, confidently sharing her feelings not only with her friends but even with her stylists. However, they point out that she seems to have put on a little weight, a comment that’s later echoed by her director, who also warns her to stay in shape for the upcoming summer outfit shoot.

Shocked, Marin discovers the truth when she struggles to fit into her old clothes. Wondering what could be behind her weight gain, she eventually finds the answer during a visit to Gojo’s home. After enjoying a big meal there, it dawns on her that Gojo’s delicious cooking has been the culprit all along.

Later, the two head out shopping for loose socks, which Marin plans to use to add a cute touch to her look. She also brings along a camera she proudly bought with her own money for a small photoshoot. As Gojo takes the pictures, he unexpectedly finds himself drawn to photography. The episode’s sweetest moment comes when Marin decides to capture some warm family photos of the Wakana household, bringing everything to a heartfelt close.

Today’s episode starts with Marin going to the cosplay event where she is supposed to meet all her friends. There she starts to look for Amane, and he looked absolutely stunning in the costume he was wearing. Nobody could imagine that he is a guy pulling off this uniform so very well. The episode also focused on Marin getting her own camera, which she uses to take lots of pictures at the event. Amane also poses for Marin exactly like she instructs, and he quickly becomes famous within the cosplay circle.

We later get to know that Gojo is meeting up with a prop master cosplayer, Akira, who is also Gojo’s current favourite personality. Hilariously, Gojo realises that the cosplayer he is meeting is not really a man, but a woman, and they both become shocked because they both misunderstood each other’s gender. In this episode, Marin also learns to use her camera properly with better angles so that her cosplay pictures come out even sharper.

A very interesting aspect was explored in this episode surrounding the nitty-gritties of cosplay. Apparently, there are many types of cosplay where one can dress up as anime or manga characters, or they can dress up as someone working in a profession, or one can also pose as original characters that stem from their imagination. There are also after parties that take place after a cosplay event, where the cosplayers discuss the next event and check photos that they have taken.

I like today’s episode as it was fun and quirky. Plus, we also got to see a lot of new characters who can be important later in the season. I specifically loved the tonnes of knowledge that we could gather in this episode about cosplaying.
