Bleach TYBW Part 4 Episode 9 Review
Bleach Brings Its Greatest Rivals Together to Stop Yhwach
Bleach takes no time to show how bad the situation of the world is. It is apparent that Yhwach might win, and nothing will be able to stop him anymore. His presence is in three places at the same time, and these three entities have the duty to close off each world and then merge them together for the final version of the perfect world that Yhwach wants.
Obviously, it does not go very smoothly for the villain either because everyone from these three respective worlds comes together to try and keep Yhwach from achieving his goal. It is a reflective thing to see that everyone from every race comes together to fight one common enemy. The Espadas, who were literally trying to kill every Soul Reaper a few seasons back, join hands with their arch-rivals to take down Yhwach.
Similarly, the Fullbringers, who absolutely detest Soul Reapers, also come together to protect the world. The only character that I missed in this fight was Aizen, whose entry was much anticipated. Perhaps this was not his fight, and that is why he had to leave way too early.
Bleach Turns a 26-Minute Episode Into a Movie
The fight was as intense as it could get. First of all, whatever we saw in this episode, 95% of it was not in the manga. Everything was changed from its source material because things were rushed there way too much. None of the major characters played any role apart from Ichigo and Uryu, and that obviously felt very lacklustre. This is also why you realise just how powerful Yhwach is. He is one antagonist whom only Ichigo, the hero, could not take down. The shonen plot armour did not work here.
On top of that, we also see some minor characters shine in their own way by taking on some very important roles themselves. All in all, you do not feel anybody was left out, which ultimately made a 26-minute episode feel like an entire movie.
Tite Kubo Knew Exactly How to Fix the Manga’s Biggest Flaw
I must compliment the world-building of this season separately, precisely because Tite Kubo managed to attain something special. He literally utilised his manga as storyboards and expanded the storyline in such a way that it finally does justice to the massive tale of Bleach. I honestly do not know how else this anime could have been made in a better way. The music should also be mentioned separately because it sets the mood very nicely and prepares you for all the heartbreaking, exciting and thrilling moments.
Bleach Delivers One Jaw-Dropping Fight After Another
Now let’s come to the absolute highlight of this episode, which will have to be the exquisite animation. When the team took a one-month break, I did expect great quality from the makers. However, I did not think that they would cook so hard. Every panel was brilliant, and the colour grading looked breathtaking. There were numerous fights in this episode and, uniquely enough, none of these fights felt repetitive or boring for even a second. This honestly has a lot to do with the animators, precisely because they did not have any blueprint to follow.
Final Thoughts
Even though the epic battle was expected from Bleach makers, I obviously did not think things could be this good. This has truly been a generational run for Bleach fans, and all I can say is how grateful I am that the team returned after 10 years and delivered something this incredible.
There was a time when every Bleach fan felt that the abrupt ending of the manga would be the conclusion we would have to live with, but that was not the case. Thankfully, we got something far more satisfying, and the ending of Bleach proves just how worth the wait it has been. I’m eagerly waiting for what Kubo has to show me next.
