Fanático Trailer: Lorenzo Ferro Takes Over His Idol’s Persona in Netflix’s Spanish Series

Fanático is an upcoming Spanish music series which is set to be released on Netflix this month. Its cast includes Lorenzo Ferro in the lead role, Dollar Selmouni, Carlota Urdiales, Fernando Valdivieslo and Eva Almeida. The trailer for the series was released on YouTube which shows a dark and twisted tale of taking over another person’s life.

The official Netflix synopsis of the series reads – “When a trap artist’s biggest fan tries to take over his idol’s persona, he finds out that being a superstar isn’t as easy as it looks.” The series will follow the story of Quimera, Spain’s biggest music idol who has recently died in front of his fans during a concert.

Lázaro, an unconditional fan, sees this as his chance to escape his monotonous and precarious life and turns to become overnight into the thing he’s been admiring for so long – his own idol. But will he be able to pull off the stunt of becoming someone else? Will his idol’s life be as glamourous and exciting as portrayed by him?

The series is set to explore the difference between the stage persona and the reality behind that. Even though Lázaro looks identical to his idol but does he have the same talent? And what’s the reason behind Quimera’s death? What if Lázaro ends up with the same fate as him or will it be a completely different story as the dead music star is resurrected by his own fan.

The plot of the film reminds me of all the conspiracy theories about music stars like Avril Lavigne, who is popularly claimed by the fans that she is replaced by her look alike.

Fanático is scheduled to be released on 29 July 2022 on Netflix.
