Saga of Tanya the Evil Season 2 Episode 5 Review
What happens to Hans at the very beginning of this episode?

Hans gets transferred from his position at the capital because he went against the politicians. He reminded them how the war can be devastating for them if it goes on, and it can also affect the royal family. However, they did not like that much reality and hence decided to make him transfer to someplace else. Kurt also comes to see him off and tells him that they would win the war together. This was a statement that even Kurt had a hard time believing in.
Why was Tanya scared to see Hans?
Tanya also gets called in the East and had no idea that Hans would also be there. She was scared because Hans was her superior; if he got into trouble, then that means that it is also bad for her. She would not be able to get her promotions anymore and would get roped into all the troubles that Hans would be involved in. From him, she also got to know that the war is not ending and that she will have to just work extra hard now. The higher-ups refuse to agree to a ceasefire because they think they do not have enough wins to declare peace yet. This was definitely a dire situation for the Empire and Tanya.

So what do Tanya and Hans decide for the eastern region?
For the eastern front, they both discuss a strategic war plan. This was where it was determined that Tanya would act as bait, something that completely shocks Tanya. Hans chose that because Tanya’s group was the one that completely humiliated the Federation. He was thus sure that they would definitely come for her.
Even though Tanya tried her best to get out of this mess, she could not and yet again she finds herself in deep trouble. They decided to execute their plan at an abandoned rail station that had belonged to the Federation but was occupied by the Empire.

Why was this mission difficult for Tanya?
Tanya would essentially have to keep fighting before help could come her way. She would also not be able to retreat as she gets the command to defend the depot with everything that she has. It was essentially a sui-ide mission.
How did the Allied Kingdom get so much information on the Empire?
We get to know that there was a spy involved in the Empire way high up who was supplying all the information to the Allied Kingdom. They even revealed that there was a conflict between the civilian leadership and the military within the Empire. On top of that, the Allied Kingdom kept attacking the Empire, making it difficult for them to stay in the war with a clear mind.

What worked and what did not work?
In this episode, we did not see an all-out battle, but the stage is set for that. I’m definitely excited for what could happen in the next episode. Hopefully, the war will finally end, and Tanya will get her respite.
