Satoko’s Marriage Deal With Shinpei Becomes a Horror-Comedy Nightmare

Satoko thought it would be a great idea for her to propose a marriage deal with a mad killer. At the time, it definitely felt like the only way out of her predicament, and one can’t really blame Satoko for thinking like that. Because her weird idea actually worked, and Shinpei, who is literally insane, agreed to spare her life precisely because he thought they would really get married.

From here on, a difficult journey for Satoko begins. She must tread carefully beside Shinpei to not trigger his madness. On top of that, she will also have to try her best to keep a healthy distance between them and think of a way to escape. Because of this theme, the anime literally jumps between horror and comedy where you understand the kind of scary situation the female protagonist finds herself in, yet laugh at he absurdity.

Satoko Must Tolerate Shinpei’s Rants

As Satoko is the one who proposed a marriage deal, she will have to accept some sort of close proximity to Shinpei. It is apparent from the get-go that Shinpei is very much into the idea of getting married to Satoko. He even fantasises about their future and tells her how he would love to wash her hair every day. Not only that, he even tells her that because he’s a killer, he will most likely go to hell and very creepily asks her to follow him in, as well.

Shinpei’s Facial Expressions Hide His Obsession

This segment was scary but also hilarious because of the different facial expressions Shinpei shows to Satoko. The moment he gets a hint of hesitation from Satoko, he is quick to remind her that she’s the one who asked for his hand in marriage. Satoko is no fool; she understands very well that Shinpei knows she cannot refuse anything he asks for. Yet, very cunningly, he makes her choose every time in very compromising situations, so that whatever he wants comes from Satoko herself.

Satoko Turns the Tables on Her Enemies by Using Shinpei’s Twisted Love

Satoko takes full advantage of the situation as well. She doesn’t fight Shinpei or his obsession. She leans into it and utilises him to fight against her enemies who are after her life. Satoko understands that the only man who can save her in her current situation is none other than Shinpei. If the man is obsessed with her and is willing to risk his life for her, then she can definitely work him to her advantage.

Shinpei May Be a Killer, but Satoko Knows How to Control Him

One thing that stands out about Satoko is the fact that she understands her limits and strengths. She knows that she is not strong enough to protect herself and will have to rely on Shinpei for his assistance. However, when the chance arrives for her, she grabs it and shows Shinpei how she can also have different options. The section where she dances in front of a crowd points to her soft power. She is beautiful and capable enough to get patrons, something that would devastate Shinpei. Thus, in reality, Satoko is far more powerful in their relationship than Shinpei.

I absolutely loved this episode as it showcased how easily the relationship dynamic between Shinpei and Satoko can be flipped. On top of that, the way this episode ended was also very interesting, as we understand that Satoko will take on a more challenging task in the next episode. I must say that for a shoujo anime, this is great, and I absolutely loved how a yandere character is being portrayed on screen.
