Reincarnated as a Sword Episode 8 Review and Recap – Guardian of Children

In today’s episode, perhaps for the first time, we saw fear in Fran’s eyes. She encountered one of the biggest challenges of her life when she came face to face with a blue cat called Gyuran.

Blue cats are natural enemies to black cats and not just because they are more powerful than black cats. But because blue cats are famous for being absolutely merciless and ruthless towards black cats. For a very long time, they have killed and tortured black cats, forcing them into the lowest rank among the beasts.

Gyuran here is no different. He boasts in front of Fran how he has killed multiple black cats and even claims to have maimed a black cat child in front of her mother. Gyuran wishes to do the same things to Fran, if not worse, and for a moment, we think Fran might lose this battle.

But that is not the case; she summons the courage to face this enemy in front of her and refuses the help of Teacher, who wants to fight Gyuran himself. But Fran announces how this battle is not only just for her but for her entire race, whom she wants to give the courage to stand up to blue cats; thus, she will fight herself.

In the battle itself, we saw Fran at her most menacing stage, where she showed no mercy to Gyuran. The outcome of the battle was definitely not a surprise, considering how strong Fran has become, but it was refreshing to see her growing out of fear.

In the second half of this episode, we got introduced to a new character Amanda, whose glimpse we saw in the previous episode. The moment she meets Fran, she immediately jumps at her hugging her and claiming to be her mother.

She is indeed a weird lady who is famous for taking care of children and even starts stalking Fran out of attachment.

Verdict

This episode was quite nice as it showed how Fran has grown from being a weak character to a strong and formidable adventurer. The entry of a new character is interesting as she gives out a very mysterious aura about herself, and we would love to know more about her. I am definitely waiting for the next week to get my answers to the surprising ending. You can watch the series on HIDIVE.
