The Eminence in Shadow Episode 7 Review: A New Talented Sword Wielder

The much-awaited 7th episode of The Eminence in Shadow, also known as Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! (陰の実力者になりたくて!) is here, and today we will discuss how it went. We got action, new characters and many more from this already cast-heavy series. So without further ado, let us jump right into this review.

The Eminence in Shadow Episode 7 Overview

This series has garnered quite the hype after its release. And the credit surely goes to good animation, a relatable male lead and a bunch of beautiful anime girls who are sure to start waifu wars.

The anime is directed by Nakanishi Kazuya, who is also famous for his work with Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai SeikatsuTrinity SevenStrike the Blood, etc. Nexus studio is handling the animation, which despite not being very famous in its field, is delivering satisfactory results as of now.

I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

The Eminence in Shadow Episode 7 Review and Recap – Cid’s Life at Risk?

This anime has perfected the art of portraying every genre almost perfectly, as well as providing enjoyment to its audience simultaneously. The episode begins with romance, then goes on to have some comedic moments, then switches to mild action and ends on a thrilling cliffhanger.

The fact that Sherry fell in love that Cid was already something we suspected in the previous episode, but we became sure of it in this one. She will most likely be used as a potential love interest for Cid in future episodes, about whose feelings Cid will not care.

On the other hand, we also saw another strong and talented individual, Rose Orianna, who might become a part of Cid’s group of female soldiers. Till now, she got introduced as one of the most talented swordsmen in the school, so she already is placed above Princess Alexia in terms of power.

This episode solidifies another strong point: how good of an actor our protagonist is. His little act of desperately trying to be the mob character of this anime was definitely entertaining. But sadly for him as the hero, he will still get all the attention that he tries to avoid, as this is the fate of the isekai harem MC.

Princess Alexia was also here in this episode, and one thing is clear she is not over Cid at all. She still harbours intense feelings for him which was proved when Sherry shows interest in Cid in front of her.

What is amusing in all of this mess is that Cid does not care at all who is interested in him and who is not. He is not even the least bit romantically curious about anyone, and honestly, I don’t think there will be anyone who will be the endgame for him.

But it was not all fun and games throughout this episode, it delivered one of the biggest cliffhangers since the anime’s beginning, and I just can’t wait for the next episode. Our overpowered Cid might have landed himself in the biggest problem ever, and we would love to see how he gets out of it.

Verdict

This episode showed us many things. It was packed with romance, comedy, action, and thrill, yet still managed to deliver a delightful watch without letting one genre overpower the other. The cliffhanger was harsh to audiences who, like me, would love to know what happens next. All in all, I enjoyed this week’s episode. Watch this anime on Netflix
