Once Upon a Small Town: Everything to Know About the Romance-Comedy Series!

Series Overview

Once Upon a Small Time (어쩌다가 전원일기) is a Korean romantic-comedy-drama series directed by Kwon Seok-jang and stars Choo Yeong-woo, Joy (Red Velvet), Baek Sung-chul and Jung Suk-yong, alongside other cast members.

We saw Choo Yeong-woo the last time in 2021’s School 2021 where he played Jung Young-joo and Joy was last seen in 2021’s The One and Only wherein she played Sung Mi-do. She is also a member of popular K-pop group Red Velvet. Meanwhile, director Kwon Seok-jang’s last directorial venture was 2021’s Bossam: Steal the Fate.

Once Upon a Small Town Plot

Netflix describes the series as: “Against his wishes a veterinarian from the big city relocates to the countryside, where he meets a policewoman, a town insider with a friendly secret.”

A sweet and simple feel-good show about the lives of those in Heedong Village, the Kdrama follows veterinarian Han Ji-yool, whose grandfather tricks him to take over the latter’s vet clinic in his native village for half a year while he tours Europe. As he gets used to the simple problems and life in the village, he meets police officer Ahn Ja-young, who helps him find pleasures in the small things in life as well as tide over the problems that come with shifting from a big town, such as Seoul to a small village like Heedong.

The cast of the series includes Choo Yeong-woo, Joy, Baek Sung-chul, Jung Suk-yong, Baek Ji-won, Park Ji-a and Yoo Yeon, alongside other cast members.

Once Upon a Small Town Release Date, Trailer and More

The series will start streaming on Daum Kakao TV and on Netflix from September 05 to September 28, 2022. It will release thrice every week, on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and each episode will have a runtime of around 30 minutes. The series is based on the web novel Eojjeodaga Jeonwonilgi by Park Ha-min.

The trailer looks rather calming and happy and gives major Hometown Cha Cha Cha vibes. Let’s hope that, after a string of intense and heartbreaking shows, this one is warm and comforting and will make audiences smile!

Once Upon a Small Time will stream on Netflix and KakaoTV.
