Thai Cave Rescue Trailer: A Fight Against Nature and Time

Thai Cave Rescue trailer was released by Netflix today, which is inspired by the real event that captivated the entire world in 2018 and brings to light the untold perspectives of the rescue mission. It is created and written by Michael Russell Gunn and Dana Ledoux Miller.

It is an inspiring limited series which will have 6 episodes in total and will be released in September. The official synopsis of the series reads, “A Thai youth soccer team and their assistant coach are trapped within Tham Luang Cave, prompting a global rescue effort. Inspired by true events.”

It tells the untold stories of the Thai youth soccer team and their coach who got trapped in one of the most dangerous cave systems on Earth and the extraordinary efforts by their families, the people of Thailand, and volunteers from all over the world as they work together to fight against both nature and time to save the team.

In 2018, 12 boys from the same football team decided to spend an afternoon with their coach exploring the Tham Luang caves in northern Thailand. When heavy rainfall flooded the caves and trapped them inside, what was supposed to be a fun excursion turned into a massive international rescue operation that transfixed the world.

The cast includes Papangkorn Lerkchaleampote, Pratya Patong, Songpon Kantawong, Chakkapat Srisat, Thanawut Chetuku, Teeraphat Somkaew, Thanaphong, Kanthawong, Thanapat Pungpumkaew, Apisit Yukam, Watcharaphol Poungsawan, Thapanot Huttaprasuk, Apisit Sangjan, Rataphumi Nakisatit, Thaneth Warakulnukroh, Manatsanun Panlertwongsakul, Arisara Wongchalee and many more.

The series is shot entirely in Thailand, with on-location filming at the real Tham Luang cave, it is a dramatized retelling that covers in detail, the harrowing experiences of Coach Eak and the 12 Wild Boars inside the cave and their lives on the outside. It also includes interviews with the real boys from the Wild Boars football team, scenes shot at their real homes and even props that are items that they actually used.

Even the underwater cave diving scenes feature Dr Richard Harris, the Australian anesthesiologist and cave diver who took part in the rescue mission. He has worked as the body double of Rodger Corser, who plays the character of Dr Harris in the show, for an authentic and immersive depiction.
