Episode 10 shows how a couple who have been together for years might live without being open with each other. Instead of reconciling and communicating, we see how Mi-do and Ho are uncertain about their lives. Their connection is strong, but their foundation is fragile, so it can be easily broken.

A Love Other Than Yours Episode 10 Review
Namgung Ho Couldn’t Protect Himself
The episode shows that Ho has grown up protecting Mi-do and her family without even building his own identity. All he knows is to stay devoted to Mi-do, support her dream and carry her responsibilities. This is probably because when he was in discomfort, she protected him, and so he has started to believe that Mi-do is his responsibility.
He often conceals his true feelings, stays calm and pretends to be reasonable while all he is is a small kid with immaturity. The firefly-field conversation with his younger half-brother offers an important glimpse into this idea. Ho explains that love is usually formed out of pity and then it becomes genuine. So basically, he is talking about himself: it all started out of pity, and it became an obsession.

Mi-do and Her Guilt
Speaking of Mi-do, she is also on the same page. Her feelings for Ho are genuine, but her decisions are all made due to guilt. She often goes back to her childhood, remembering her father’s death and how Ho has been beside her, providing happiness. So she feels obliged to Namgung Ho.
She speaks openly while Ho always hides his words. One protects, and the other depends. However, Mi-do is no better than Ho. Mi-do can express her emotions, but most of the time, her guilt influences them. Her fear of losing Namgung Ho may reflect romantic love, but it probably is because she doesn’t want to make him suffer, as he has done so much for her and her family.

This is what makes her character compelling: she is neither entirely innocent nor simply manipulative. Her mistakes have consequences, but she can’t be limited to that because her trauma has its hand in it.
Su-a and Tae-seung
Su-a’s growing closeness with Ho creates uncertainty. Some viewers think that with Su-a, Ho is more expressive and he tells some of his buried views. However, this could mean that he is using her as an escape and not actually finding himself.

Su-a, however, isn’t just a perfect alternative for him, but she is someone more than that. Her involvement with a guy who is still not over his ex clearly shows that she knows what she’s doing. She doesn’t want to lose herself but rather be true to herself. Meanwhile, Tae-seung is connected to Mi-do in an intense manner. He isn’t relying on her for emotional security, but he knows that she is broken enough to understand how tormented he is.
At the end of the day, all four of them know what they’re doing and are not completely innocent or stupid.
Storytelling That Divides Its Audience

I understand what the storyline is trying to convey, but it does make the viewers feel divided. Some hate Mi-do while some understand her. Likewise, some understand that Ho is not obsessed but is protective, while some believe he doesn’t know boundaries. Either way, all the characters in this show seem to have a scattered mindset as they’re trying to find a way for their uncertain future.
Nevertheless, the debates surrounding the characters show that the drama has created the conflict that they intended. The amount of discussion online is giving the series its free promotion.
Final Verdict

Another episode of questions that leave us wondering what’s wrong with Ho and Mi-do. Are they both truly in love, or are they in love with what they think of each other? Does Mi-do love him out of guilt? Does Ho believe Mi-do is his responsibility because she has protected him?
They must discover whether they can choose each other freely, without guilt dictating their future. Ultimately, the important question is not whether their love is true but whether it was healthy from the start.
