Blue Box Episode 9 Recap

With tournament season behind him, Taiki now faces the daunting challenge of exam season. For someone so dedicated to his sport, studying feels like an uphill battle. As the pressure mounts, he struggles to balance his badminton practice with preparing for his finals, constantly wondering if he’ll manage to pass.
Taiki isn’t alone in his struggles, as Hina finds herself floundering with her studies too. Since realizing her feelings for Taiki, her confidence has grown, and their relationship has become more comfortable. Despite her unrequited love, Hina shows maturity by not wanting to jeopardize Taiki and Chinatsu’s bond, knowing it could hurt him. Instead, she hopes Taiki might eventually return her feelings naturally, though she understands it may never happen.

Taiki’s journey toward excelling in badminton remains a tough road. During a class activity where students write down their goals, he chooses to set a realistic target rather than claiming he’ll make it to the nationals. While ambitious, he recognizes he’s not yet ready for that leap, reflecting his thoughtful approach to growth.
The combination of tournament stress and relentless studying takes its toll, and Taiki eventually falls ill. Fortunately, Chinatsu is there to care for him, leading to some tender, romantic moments that highlight the mutual feelings growing between them. These interactions reveal a deeper connection, adding a heartfelt layer to the story amidst the challenges.
Blue Box Episode 10 Review And Recap
After Taiki and Chinatsu find themselves in a compromising position, one might think that there will be some sort of development, but sadly, there was none. Chinatsu dismisses the whole thing and plays it off pretty cool, leaving Taiki thinking about it all night. The next day, he still thinks about the fateful incident while he makes a full recovery.
While in school, Haryu has a deep conversation with Taki about his goals, which almost everyone has seen. He tries to encourage Taiki but, at the same time, reminds him how weak shots are not the only concern he should be worried about. There are many challenging opponents who will be even better next year, and he must work extra hard on his overall game so that he can enter and, hopefully, win the tournament.

This interaction was the only sports-related segment that happened in this episode, as troubles of the heart were the most important aspect here. It is obvious that Chinatsu has become an integral part of Taiki’s family and is particularly close with his parents. They treat her like their own daughter, and if Chinatsu and Taiki ever enter a relationship, there won’t be any concerns, at least from the parents.
However, it seems that Chinatsu is aware of Taiki’s attraction towards her, and she is deliberately trying to distance herself from him. There are many encounters where Taiki comes pretty close to Chinatsu physically, and she boldly faces him regarding those situations. It is apparent that her game is the only thing that she thinks about, and perhaps that is why she is unwilling to commit at this moment, even when she herself is attracted to Taiki.

Verdict
Today’s episode leaned heavily into drama, highlighting just how drawn-out and complicated this relationship dynamic can become. We are not going to see the couple come together anytime soon, even though they don’t really have that many actual issues stopping them from dating. There is also a high chance of a love triangle forming with Hina.
