Viking Wolf Twitter Review: Norwegian Thriller Receives a Mixed Response from Netizens

The Norwegian thriller Viking Wolf (Vikingulven) has received an array of reactions from netizens online, with some describing it as a pitch-perfect thriller, while others pointing out the lack of better execution. Notably, the plot of the film revolves around a hunt for the mythological creature, whose very appearance leads to gruesome murders and strange occurrences.

The film is directed by Stig Svendsen with a screenplay from him and Espen Aukan, and has a total runtime of one hour and thirty-eight minutes. Moreover, the horror flick features a cast of Norwegian actors Sjur Vatne Brean as Jonas Larson, Vidar Magnussen as Arthur Berg, Elli Rhiannon Müller Osborne, Elli Rhiannon Müller Osbourne, and Liv Mjönes.

Even though the Nordic film has received praise for its thrilling and suspenseful story, the film was not without its flaws. Some users found the film to be too formulaic, relying too heavily on the conventions of the horror genre and not offering anything truly new or innovative.

Additionally, some have criticized the film’s depiction of the werewolf as being one-dimensional and lacking fresh elements and filled mostly with the repetitive nuances of similar creatures in other films. Moreover, this is why many believe the film falls short in its exploration of the werewolf as a pop culture icon and instead opts for cheap thrills and jump scares.

Another common criticism of the film is that it lacks strong character development and that the characters are not fully fleshed out. This has left some audiences feeling that the film falls short in its ability to emotionally engage and connect with them.

However, despite all these shortcomings, some users have felt connected with the horror part of the story. And believe it to be a finely tuned modern-day tale of werewolves. Moreover, this is why the reactions are much polarised, and heavily focused on different aspects of the movie. Therefore, to keep you in the loop, we have compiled a list of reviews and reactions that best describe this nordic horror thriller flick.
