What happens after Seo-ri goes back in time?

After Seo-ri goes back in time, she finds herself in a timeline where the Prince has not died yet. Exactly, that’s when the king comes to the dowager’s palace and asks Seo-ri to come in as well. He then makes her deliver poison to the Prince so that he drinks it without asking many questions. In the original timeline, he did drink and died, so to save Se-gye in the current timeline, Seo-ri will have to stop his princely self from drinking the poison.

Does Seo-ri stop Se-gye from drinking poison?

When she goes to the Prince to stop him, he tries to portray that he does not like her. She also breaks the bowl where the poison was poured, and he acts angrily towards her. This is because he needed to showcase that he is angry with her so that he could die and she could live in his place. He also tried to deny his feelings for her, but that obviously did not help as Seo-ri kept on confessing her love.

Did Seo-ri manage to save Se-gye?

A bodyguard comes in to kill the Prince himself, and the couple run from him. However, a strange situation happens where Seo-ri takes an arrow that was meant for the Prince, and they both fall into the sea. Exactly then, Se-gye wakes up in the current timeline. When he then goes to find Seo-ri, he does not find her. He even goes to his grandfather to ask for help and cries in front of him. In the end, he does find her in an unconscious state, but her original soul was somewhere completely else.

Se-gye gets visited by Seo-ri’s shaman. She tried to tell him the truth, but he did not believe her and went back to the hospital to meet Seo-ri again. Later, Tae-hee also visits him and tells him about Seo-ri’s painting in the museum. That is when he also remembers all his past memories and the fact that she tried to save him in his past life. Se-gye breaks down in front of the painting. On the other hand, Seo-ri gets the choice to choose a path, and she chooses to be with Se-gye. Later, she comes back to him.

What happens to the prince?

We get a twist in this story where we see the original Dan-shim with the Prince. They managed to escape from the guards.

Moon-do gets exposed for his crimes in front of all the journalists. Funnily enough, it was a deep fake video that exposed him. But it was enough to damage his reputation completely. In the end, he finds himself in jail.

What worked and what did not work?

This episode was definitely dramatic and relied on a few too many clichés for my liking. However, it delivered a happy ending for all the characters, and while the finale was nothing extraordinary, it was still satisfying. The ending could have been stronger, but overall, it wrapped up the series as a decent rom-com.
