Scam 2003 Part 2 Review: Plot Summary

Scam 2003 Part 2 picks up where Part 1 ended. Abdul Telgi Karim is unstoppable with his scandalous activities. But now it’s all out in the open. The authorities have figured out the magnitude of Telgi’s scam, and they will do anything to stop it and bring him to justice. But things are not as simple as they would’ve thought. After all, how can it be easy to get hold of someone who fooled people with a mere piece of paper?

Scam 2003 Part 2 Review: Discussion

While I am still not okay with the decision to divide the show into 2 parts, the 3 episodes provided by SonyLIV manage to keep you engrossed with the twists in the tale. Whether it is Telgi’s personal life or his ill-famed professional life, things start to get out of hand. But every time we think that he will lose the empire he built, he outsmarts those around him.

Scam 2003 Part 2 Review Still

The story of Sony LIV’s Scam 2003 Part 2 oscillates between Maharashtra to Karnataka. However, the places here play no crucial role in bringing distinctiveness to the story. The focus is more on characters and strategies to get a hold of Telgi. The politicians and officers have come together to put an end to his fraud. But the more they chase him, the deeper they themselves fall into the pit he dug for them, where their reputation is at stake.

Episodes 6 to 8 of the series are fast-paced and keep you on the edge all the time. The series works better in the latter half because it is packed with several turning points and unexpected revelations in episodes that are a bit shorter than the first 5. There’s more shifting in the premise and fewer talks. But what remains consistent is Gagan’s performance.

Scam 2003 Part 2 Review: Gagan Dev Riar as Abdul Karim Telgi
Scam 2003 Part 2 Review: Gagan Dev Riar as Abdul Karin Telgi

In Scam 2003 Part 1, I was concerned with the extremely talkative nature of Abdul Karim Telgi because it would do very little to push the story to some effect. However, Part 2 gets it right. Gagan Dev Riar continues to shine as the scammer Telgi and is completely immersed in the character he plays. At this point, the character has learned to act more and talk comparatively less. But his one-liners are witty, and his style of tackling his enemies is quite simple yet intimidating. Riar is remarkable throughout, and his conviction helps us stay glued to the screen to see what Telgi’s fate turns out to be.

In addition to the noteworthy performances of the remaining cast members, the inclusion of Mukesh Tiwari heightens the level of suspense.

Scam 2003 Part 2 Review: Final Thoughts

Overall, episodes 6 to 8 of Scam 2003 Part 2 on SonyLIV have in store for you enough suspense, thrills, and exciting moments. But was it worth waiting so many weeks to see how the story continues? It will always be a questionable decision. Thankfully, Gagan Dev Riar’s exceptional performance keeps you impressed as Telgi’s scam slowly unravelled, nearing his downfall, which shook the nation due to the immensity of his scam. I also hope the last two episodes are compelling and better than all the previous episodes.
