My Royal Nemesis Episode 7 Review

What happens after the kiss?

This episode begins with Se-gye and Seo-ri kissing, and we get a flashback to their previous lives. Here, Seo-ri lectured Se-gye about giving her a dagger as a gift rather than something sweet. Here, they experience a sweet moment because Se-gye tells her one of his secrets. He’s the one who spread rumours about him so that everyone stays away from him. Back at the present timeline, Seo-ri makes a startling confession that Se-gye’s face resembles that of someone who would commit high treason. Even though she says it in a drunken haze, it is most likely a hint at what Se-gye did in his past life.

What happens after Seo-ri wakes up in the morning?

Seo-ri wakes up disoriented and remembers nothing of what happened the night before. Se-gye takes advantage of this and tries to scare her into thinking that they are on an abandoned island and that they would have to live there. After that, Seo-ri also remembers kissing Se-gye. Then, they finally get off the island, and Se-gye warns Seo-ri not to play the blackout card, as he will not let the relationship falter anymore.

What is up with Tae-hee?

Tae-hee is slowly trying to creep into Se-gye’s family, and she does it by familiarising herself with everyone. Moon-do is very much aware of her plan, and he just wants to disrupt Se-gye in any way possible. Other than that, one of Se-gye’s aunts sides with Tae-hee, while another aunt comes to Seo-ri. At first, it felt like she would bribe Seo-ri to leave Se-gye alone.

However, hilariously, she gives her money to tie Se-gye down completely. Her plan is simple: she wants to cause such a disruption that Se-gye would be kicked out of the inheritance race. Seo-ri obviously rejects this and makes her go away. However, after her, someone else comes to meet Seo-ri. Tae-hee arrives and tells her how she and Se-gye are supposed to get married and essentially just tells Seo-ri to go away. This heavily affects Seo-ri emotionally.

What does Seo-ri do after that?

Seo-ri becomes aware that she does not have the power to help Se-gye advance in his career. Thus, she starts to focus on her own career as an actress and curtly tells Se-gye not to bother her anymore. This obviously hurt her even more, but she pretended to be tough.

What kind of problems do Se-gye and Seo-ri face later?

Moon-do tries his best to make a false claim against Se-gye, and this actually affects his standing in his company. On the other hand, Seo-ri’s grandmother falls sick, and Seo-ri realises how she must remain strong. Just when she comes back to her building, she sees a present just for her. This was a birthday present for the actual Seo-ri, and the current Seo-ri starts to feel bad as an impostor.

What worked and what did not work?

Seo-ri essentially confesses her feelings for Se-gye and tells him how she will protect him. This was nice, as things did not get dragged. But this episode also lacked the hilarity that we usually get. It was a lot more serious, which was needed given the context.
