Mi-do Finally Chooses to Stop Hurting Everyone

The episode begins with Mi-do stopping Tae-seung as he tries to kiss her. She admits that she no longer wants to hurt Ho and makes it clear that she can’t start a relationship with Tae-seung while her feelings are still tangled. Tae-seung gets furious and messy. He asks her to leave, and she actually does. But it makes him feel miserable, and he runs after her, begging. It’s clear he’s deeply fallen in love with Mi-do, who’s simply confused.

This scene feels so uncomfortable because Mi-do’s decision doesn’t automatically ease Ho’s pain now. It has complicated everything. Tae-seung got hurt, Mi-do feels pathetic, Ho is tangled with Su-a and hurting her, Su-a is messed up. Tae-seung once again feels abandoned in his life, and Mi-do’s decision doesn’t heal anyone.

Namgung Ho and Su-a

Ho and Su-a have another set of complications going on. After hugging Su-a, he leaves her alone on the road and takes her phone. It isn’t a clean goodbye; rather, he is trying to forcefully accept what’s going on. He visits Su-a in the morning and gently wipes her tears. Argh. Why is he even messing with Su-a’s poor heart?

I mean, his tenderness does show that he has started to care about Su-a, but it could be guilt and not romantic love. His kindness offers Su-a some comfort, but it doesn’t give her hope because she knows Ho’s feelings are unresolved. This is why this show feels frustrating to watch.

Nobody is free from anyone, as they’re all mixed up with someone or the other. Ho feels pity towards Su-a, whereas she is in love. Ho is in love with Mi-do, who just broke Tae-seung’s heart. Mi-do loves Ho, but there is another girl who is hurting herself.

Follow Your Heart

Episode 12’s central core happens when Mi-do and Ho meet for a final goodbye. Mi-do controls herself and tells him to follow his heart and that he finally looks after himself. Instead of demanding Ho to be with her, she realises that it is time to let go of him and everyone around her for good.

However, what happens next pisses me off. She promises him that she will always think of him. This is clearly screaming that she is telling him to find a new love, but then she’ll also be here waiting. This is impossible to ignore, especially when Ho himself is so tired of what’s going on. He has always wanted Mi-do, and for her sake, he tried to date Su-a. Now Mi-do wants Ho to be happy, but she also states she won’t stop loving him. Girl, get to the point!

The Final Kiss Changes Everything

Just when we think there is a separation between Su-a and Ho, she actually kisses him on the cheek. Ho then grabs her wrist and leans in for a kiss but stops when he sees Mi-do and Tae-seung standing behind. This interruption sets the cliffhanger for us to look forward to the finale week.

At this point, Mi-do and Ho are extremely toxic. Mi-do is the one who asked Ho to move on, but she couldn’t stand the sight of him kissing someone. Then there is Ho, who clearly knows he hasn’t moved on but went for a kiss just because he wanted to erase Mi-do. Both of them are toying with the feelings of Su-a and Tae-seung.

Can Love Survive Letting Go?

As we look forward to the finale, this episode clearly has shown the sticky situation of all four characters. Mi-do wants to let go but also wants him. Ho wants to move on but can’t. Tae-seung wants Mi-do, but he knows she loves Ho. Su-a wants Ho, but she knows he is not over Mi-do. This is unbelievable!

Ultimately, Episode 12 is a devastating reminder that sometimes the hardest goodbye is the one you offer while secretly hoping you will not have to say it. With Mi-do and Ho’s future hanging in the balance, the finale has a difficult question to answer: can they finally learn to love each other without losing themselves?
