Daemons of the Shadow Realm Episode 9 Review

What happens after Yuru goes out?
Tadera realises that Yuru is upset over what he learned from his sister. Thus, to cheer him up, Tadera takes Yuru on a tour of the outside world. They go to many places and even witness horse racing, where Tadera loses a lot of money. Then Tadera asks Yuru if he needs anything, and Yuru asks for a bow and arrow.
Rather than a ready-made one, Yuru decides to make a bow himself. This is why they also go to a convenience store to get all the materials. There, something interesting happens: the cashier sees Right and Left and claims she’s hallucinating. Then Tadera reveals that when someone lacks sleep, they may be able to see daemons sometimes.
What does Yuru decide about the village?

Yuru discloses that there were times when a person would come to assassinate him, and he would take care of them himself. However, rather than someone who’s from the village, it would always be an outsider. The reason he knew that was that when he checked their hands, they would always remain clean, unlike the hands of a villager.
This means that either the villagers used outside people to attack Yuru or someone from the outside wanted to dispose of Yuru. Thus, Yuru decides not to believe either the villagers or anyone among the outsiders anymore. They also realise that they were being tailed, most likely by the Kagemori family spies.
What does the Kagemori family do to the intruders?

The intruders do not get hurt by the Kagemori family. On the contrary, they get asked questions, and when their background gets cleared, they are even offered jobs. This makes it seem like the Kagemoris are actually very decent people who only did bad things because they had to.
However, that is not the case. The moment the head of the Kagemori family goes outside, he orders to put the two intruders as expendable soldiers. He also orders the disposal of the other intruders and everyone associated with them once the mastermind behind the attack is revealed. This clearly showcases just how ruthless the Kagemori family is in reality.
What happens to the people tailing Yuru?

Yuru and Tadera take the people who were trailing them to Tadera’s original abode. There, they arm themselves with weapons and go outside to confront the people following them. Tadera then takes them to a magical realm that also makes people lose track of their situation. It eventually obliterates them with confusion. However, before they could reveal who sent them, some daemons came to disrupt the whole thing.
Who are these new daemons?

These new daemons slay the followers right away. They are ghastly looking creatures with long legs, and Right and Left prepare themselves to fight them. Apparently, they are called the Ashinagatenaga.
What worked and what did not work?
I would have liked to see a bit more action in this episode, as most of it was conversations between the characters. Yet, it gave crucial insight into the Kagemori family and shows just how complicated they are. While the story has yet to get great, it is engaging enough.
