Aizen played a critical role in the battle against Yhwach, but what happened to the former Soul Reaper captain after the Thousand-Year Blood War arc ended?
The series is also known as BLEACH 千年血戦篇-禍進譚- and is directed by Murata Hikaru and Taguchi Tomohisa.
What Happens To Aizen After TYBW?

During the battle with Yhwach, it seemed like the greatest antagonist of Bleach got defeated. When Aizen entered the battlefield, it seemed like he was invincible; however, Yhwach defeated him. However, after Ichigo defeats Yhwach, we see Aizen back in Muken, where he was already kept.
Why Was Aizen Released From Muken to Fight Yhwach?

The only reason someone like Aizen was released was because of Yhwach. First of all, Aizen was captured because he could not be killed, and he fused with the Hogyoku. In such a situation, the only way to keep him under control was to keep him sealed away for as long as possible. Weirdly enough, when Shunsui released him, he did so in a very limited manner.
Shunsui knew that Aizen would never help Yhwach because their ideologies do not match. On top of that, someone as confident as Aizen would never stoop to being someone’s follower, and that’s why Shunsui’s best bet was Aizen, who would also not want the Soul Society to be completely gone.
How Did Aizen Help Defeat Yhwach?

In the beginning, when weird black creatures begin to pour into the Seireitei, Aizen uses his Riatsu to literally crush the creatures without even lifting a finger. He also mocks the Soul Reapers for trying to use Zanpakuto for such measly creatures. In this battle, Aizen also asks Shunsui to undo all the seals on him, but he refuses to do that.
Aizen then uses Hado 90 and causes a massive blast that completely eliminates the creatures. He even tries to bring down the Soul King Palace with his Riatsu but that does not happen because the chair actually contained his Riatsu.

Later, Aizen faces off Yhwach directly. Yhwach finally releases Aizen from his chair and even asks him why he would want to fight with him when he once tried to destroy the Soul Reapers himself. Aizen simply states that he just hates Yhwach trying to rule over him, and that’s exactly why he wants to defeat him. The battle begins, and even though at one point it seems like Aizen is winning, he gets defeated.
Why Was Aizen Sent Back to Muken?

Just because Aizen helped the Soul Society does not make him a good person. He is and will always remain a threat to Soul Society; that is why he will have to stay in Muken until he completes his sentence or there is a much bigger threat for which he would be needed again.
How Long Is Aizen’s Sentence in Muken?
At first, Aizen was sentenced to 18,800 years of imprisonment in the underground prison. However, because of his arrogance towards those deciding his punishment, his sentence was escalated to 20,000 years.

What was Aizen’s Role in the Last Episode?
Aizen senses that somebody took care of the last remnant of Yhwach’s Riatsu. He also thinks about the Quincy King’s final words about how, now that he’s dead, the question of death would continue to haunt everyone else. However, Aizen acknowledged that such a world would not really be a good world, as it would lack hope. He rejected Yhwach’s vision of a world without fear of death and stated that what truly drives humans to progress was nothing but courage.
Is There a Chance That Aizen Would Return in Bleach: Hell Verse?

There is a strong possibility that Aizen could return in the Bleach: Hell Arc, especially if Ichigo and the Soul Reapers face challenging new opponents. The appearance of Szayelaporro Granz in the No Breaths From Hell one-shot hints that other former Espada could also return. If the threat escalates, Aizen’s power could make him a key figure in the story once again.
