My Royal Nemesis Episode 13 Review
Did Seo-ri remember anything?
Seo-ri remembers that she’s the actual Seo-ri, and she swapped her soul when she was very young with Dan-shim. Most likely, the accident caused her soul to go back in time, and Dan-shim’s soul came to her body. While she remembered all of this, Se-gye came to save her and even brought the police with him to stop Moon-do’s goons from hurting Seo-ri. He then takes Seo-ri back to his home.
Then Seo-ri wakes up, and she promises Se-gye that she will not leave him anymore. This is because she now knows that she is the original Seo-ri and the present time belongs to her. Her interaction with her grandmother also becomes way more wholesome now that Seo-ri knows that she’s the authentic one.
What is happening between Gwang-nam and Ji-hyo?
There is an underlying romantic plot going on between these two side characters, and I’m enjoying that. Even though Ji-hyo might show that she’s not interested in Gwang-nam, it is apparent that she does like him. Maybe, in the future, we will get a love story between them as well.
What happens with Moon-do?
It is apparent that the grandfather remembers everything, and now he is planning to get back at Moon-do. On the other hand, because of Se-gye’s plans, Moon-do also finds himself in controversy. He gets embroiled in a bribery dispute, which also damages his reputation along with Se-gye. However, Se-gye does not care about anything anymore because he has nothing to lose.
What is the relationship between Tae-hee and Se-gye now?
Tae-hee has become a true business partner to Se-gye, who does not seek his love anymore. Rather, they work on a mutual profit basis, and she helps him out with taking revenge on Moon-do. Not only that, but Seo-ri also openly challenges Moon-do and lets him know that this time, she would not just accept his evil deeds.
What kind of tragedy strikes in this episode?
Seo-ri loses her grandmother in this episode, and it was a very emotional moment. Even though this series is primarily a comedy, it also showcases the dramatic moments very nicely. You could literally feel the love Seo-ri had for her grandmother.
Was that all?
No, another massive twist in the end. Seo-ri now has to go back to the past and save Se-gye. However, this time, she might not be able to return to her original timeline ever again. This was again most likely caused by Moon-do, who became pissed when his son got dragged into this scuffle. Though he himself is way more evil than anyone else, he seems to think nothing should happen to his child because of that.
What worked and what did not work?
I liked the romance and chemistry between the leads, which are the show’s strongest aspects. However, I felt that the ending leaned a little too heavily into familiar drama tropes. It wasn’t necessarily bad, but it was predictable and followed a path many have likely seen before.
After Seo-ri had already gone through a near-death experience, having Se-gye seemingly face a similar fate felt somewhat unnecessary.
