My Liberation Notes Episode 12 Review: Gu Is Left With No Choice Than To Part Ways With Mi-jeong

My Liberation Notes (나의 해방일지) is a Korean drama series directed by Kim Suk-yoon and stars Kim Ji-won, Lee Min-ki, Son Suk-ku and Lee El, alongside other cast members. The series has 16 episodes. My Liberation Notes Episode 12 has a runtime of 70 minutes.

In My Liberation Notes Episode 12, Chang-hee gets a chance again to spend time with a woman of his interest. He promises to drive her home in the Rolls Royce but couldn’t because someone had parked a car in front of his car so the woman had to take a taxi home. As if it wasn’t enough, Chang-hee finds out a dent in the car the next day and there is no way to find out who did it. The restoration price is too high and he is scared to tell to Gu.

Tae-hun and Gi-jeong have gone on their first date as a couple and they discuss things to keep in mind while dating a woman from Gyeonggi and a man with a child. They have a good time and it is a good start to their new relationship. Tae-hun’s daughter has noticed that her father and aunt have had an argument and she asks Tae-hun if it is because of Gi-jeong. When she asks him why he likes Gi-jeong, he tells her that she lets him relax and he likes it because he is not an energetic person. His daughter understands him and gives him subtle approval.

A new member has joined the liberation club and it is the head of the joy support group. She had attended a club’s meeting to check if they really do anything or not. She liked their concept and finally makes the courage to join the group. She has many things to liberate herself from but the first thing she wants to get rid of is her fake smile. The members welcome her into their club.

While Gu is out for delivery, a man has come looking for him. He is driving a posh car and wearing a gold watch. Both Mi-jeong’s mom and dad look at him questionably when he says that he has come to visit Gu. Mi-jeong’s mom let him have a good lunch but later, the man gets to the real talk with Gu. He tries to warn him that chairman Shin will come for his life if he doesn’t come back now.

Chang-hee has to tell Gu the truth now and he is prepared, wearing his sports shoes because he knows that Gu is not going to let him go easily. As expected, Gu is angry and runs at Chang-hee but as he was prepared, Chang-hee runs ahead of Gu. None of them has any intention to stop and they go so far as to board a subway. However, while running, both think of the woman they like, Gu of Mi-jeong and Chang-hee of Hyun-a.

Chang-hee visits Hyun-a’s boyfriend who is on his deathbed and Gu meets the man who came looking for him. Gu tips him off about Baek and the police have raided Baek’s club. The man tells chairman Shin that Gu is making a comeback. When Gu tells Mi-jeong that he is going back, she cries alone in her bedroom and later goes to help Gu pack up. Gu tells her to curse him all she wants but Mi-jeong tells him that she is sad and not angry.

Gu tells Mi-jeong that his life in Sanpo and life in Seoul are totally different. He speaks roughly to Mi-jeong but tells her to live well. Though he speaks roughly, he has become teary-eyed and Mi-jeong also doesn’t stop him but wishes him well. Mi-jeong’s father gives him money, knowing he is really rich and tells him to come back if he ever wants. Baek has died in a police encounter and Gu is back in power.

My Liberation Notes Episode 12 review

In My Liberation Notes Episode 12, feelings are intense. Tae-hun and Gi-jeong’s new romance, Chang-hee and his father’s fight, the father’s trust in Gu and Gu’s departure from Mi-jeong and her family all make an impact. Gu has almost reached his peak character development and he has gone back to where he back came from. However, things won’t be the same. It will be interesting to see Gu as a gang leader and Mi-jeong’s irreversible impact on his life.
