Like Flowers in Sand Episode 8 titled “Remember, Don’t Remember”, premiered on January 11, 2023, on Netflix. Baek-du has a major memory loss following his drinking session with his friends. However, he remembers something major which can potentially solve the case for Du-sik.

Like Flowers in Sand (모래에도 꽃이 핀다) is a South Korean drama series directed by Kim Jin-woo and written by Won Yoo-jung. Developed by KT Studio Genie and produced by Astory, the series stars Jang Dong-yoon and Lee Ju-myoung in the lead roles alongside Yoon Jong-seok, Kim Bo-ra, Lee Jae-joon, Lee Joo-seung and others.

The narrative of the show revolves around a group of young individuals striving to flourish in their lives amid the vibrant setting of Geosan’s ssireum city. In June 2023, AStory production company revealed the signing of a licensing agreement with Netflix for the global broadcasting rights of the series. The show now occupies the ENA’s Wednesday and Thursday 21:00 time slot, formerly held by Moon In The Day.

Scheduled for a total of 12 episodes, each has an approximate runtime of 60 minutes. The show is originally shot in Korean, however, it is also available with English subtitles.

The episode opens with a flashback where young Do-sik is playing with her group in the town. There is a little girl who is also with them. It turns out that the girl is no one other than Mi-ran. From a very young age, she dreamed of owning a cafe where she would sell cookies and would not have to work with anyone else. In the present day, Du-sik asks her about Choi Chil-seong who is involved with match-fixing but Mi-ran denies of knowing him.

Meanwhile, Baek-du is in the second round of his match, where he starts to lose focus since Du-sik is not found in the audience. He loses the second round and then prepares for the third and final round. However, even though he tries hard, he does not manage to win the third round since his mind is filled with thoughts of Du-sik. He is thereby out of the competition.

Later, the team arrives from the hospital, and they all catch up for a meal. The assistant coach encourages the team with a toast that due to bad luck, the team was unable to participate in the competition. However, he is also proud of Baek-du for going so far in the competition alone and placing himself in the fifth position. Jin-su also congratulates Baek-du and their friendship starts to become better.

During the meal, Baek-du drinks a glass of beer and naturally gets drunk very quickly. He leaves the restaurant to meet with Du-sik. He reaches her house and starts to call out her name very loudly. Du-sik arrives on time and pulls him from the entrance to a more secluded place to have a conversation. As they start talking, Baek-du suddenly kisses her. She loses her cool and slaps him, he finds himself waking up the next morning in his bed.

Later, he arrives at the stadium to practice and seems to have forgotten everything that happened the other night. However, he goes up to Du-sik to talk to her, and suddenly, his memories start to come back, but he thinks it is all a dream. As he reveals his dream to her, she does not give a reaction and he realises that it is not a dream and the kiss actually happened.

As Baek-du walks down the road near the river, he starts to recall the incident with Chil-Seong. He starts to recreate everything that happened that day and remembers an important aspect of it. He runs towards Du-sik to tell her that the night he met Chil-cheong there was another person in the backseat. Mi-ran suddenly arrives in the room with a black bag and tells them that she is sitting in the passenger seat that day.
