On his way to Jeju Island in Forecasting Love and Weather episode 12, Si-woo goes on a trip down memory lane going through his pictures with Ha-kyung. He’s clearly very much into Ha-kyung but her words from last night about loving moderately ring in his ears and make him very concerned about the future of their relationship.

Anyway, back to after Si-woo’s accident’s news reaches the station – it’s absolute pandemonium. Si-woo’s father causes a scene and screams about his son getting hurt. It just gets more annoying as he sees Ha-kyung and realizes that that’s something that he might be able to exploit. Ki-jun eventually calms him down and takes him outside. Meanwhile, the typhoon is raging outside as well and there’s no time for the others to take it easy.

16 hours ago, Si-woo makes his impact on everyone at Jeju with his sharp eye for everything climate-related. However, as the meeting rolls around, Si-woo is again taken aback by Ha-kyung’s coldness. Plus, her words from last night also haunt him. On the other hand, Dong-han is not having the best time after the mishap with his daughter. His wife is (rightly) furious with him and doesn’t let him spend time with his daughter for too long.

Back at Jeju, Si-woo goes off to observe the typhoon from an observation point. As he’s making his rounds, he comes across Yu-jin with her brother and mother. When her brother asks to tag along, Si-woo asks his colleague about it as well. As they look on from afar, Yu-jin discusses her marriage and relationship with Ki-jun with her mother. Although the latter asks her to end the fight and make up, Yu-jin seems less inclined.

Meanwhile, at KMA, Ki-jun joins Ha-kyung to have dinner. I am constantly shocked as to how these two end up having food together for extended periods of time and give compliments to each other. But one thing that comes out of this dinner is that both of them realise that they need to express themselves for the other person to understand what they want to say.

Back at Jeju, we see how Si-woo got into the accident. As he’s blowing up a weather balloon, the balloon bursts on his face. Back in the present, the hospital tells them that Si-woo is out of danger, with minor injuries. His father is still throwing a tantrum about getting compensation although no one buys into it. Ha-kyung eventually plans to take Si-woo’s father with her to check up on him and Ki-jun follows suit to win his wife over.

At the hospital, Ha-kyung and Ki-jun come across Yu-jin while going to Si-woo’s room. Ha-kyung goes to his boyfriend immediately and starts crying, asking him whether he is ok. However, their embrace is cut short when his father barges in. Si-woo is angry out of his mind but really cannot do much since he’s blindfolded. Either way, he’s annoyed with the fact that he’s there and as he starts making a scene in the hospital to get 30 million won, Si-woo gets dressed and tells him to get away from him. That results in him promptly getting slapped. Annoyed and embarrassed, Si-woo walks off, with Ha-kyung closely following suit.

Outside, getting drenched in the rain, Ha-kyung apologises to Si-woo. However, it seems like the decision has already been made. Si-woo tells her that he can’t do it anymore and tells her to run away from him.

Final thoughts: Forecasting Love and Weather Episode 12

Forecasting Love and Weather has really gone down the rabbit hole with its characters. I mean, all of these people are literal children who cannot discuss their problems with each other and solve them. For some reason, everyone just gives each other silent looks as if that’s enough for people to understand what you’re feeling. On top of that, there’s Si-woo’s father whose entire personality is money. I get it, there are people out there who are like that. But this guy is literally one dimensional. You know exactly what he’s going to say from one minute to the next.

Moreover, our protagonists are just so annoyingly childish that it is becoming difficult to sit through watching them squabble for no reason. Oh, but they don’t really discuss the issues that they are going through or what they exactly want from this relationship. Or, better yet, do the exact opposite of what they say.

It’s a whole lot of annoying and not enough tight substance. Forecasting Love and Weather episode 12 gives us Dong-han’s interesting plot development, which I am actually looking forward to. His relationship genuinely has some real gnarly issues that I am interested to see get solved somehow. Plus, I find Seok-ho and Tae-kyung’s relationship to be quite sweet – but we still need to see where we go with that.
