Fire Force Season 3 Episode 5 Recap

The episode kicks off with a surprising moment as Captain Obi appears to be struggling after being bitten by an insect. However, it’s soon revealed that his pained expression isn’t due to the insect at all, instead, it’s from the intense effort of hardening his body to the point that the insect couldn’t even pierce his skin. The scene takes a comedic turn as the rest of Company 8 rallies around him, enthusiastically cheering him on to maintain his muscle flex.
Things escalate quickly when Dragon enters the fray, proving to be on an entirely different level than the enemies faced so far. Unable to sit this one out, Arthur becomes thrilled at the chance to fight a literal dragon. This is something he’s dreamed of for a long time. Despite his excitement, Arthur’s first strike barely scratches his opponent, highlighting just how formidable Dragon really is.

Arthur’s strength in this battle stems from his unshakable simplicity. He doesn’t dwell on defeat or danger. Instead, he charges ahead with the belief that he’ll win no matter what. This almost childlike mindset allows him to break through his limitations, making him grow even stronger mid-fight.
The clash between Arthur and Dragon stands out as one of the most intense in the series so far. Dragon not only displays overwhelming power but also undergoes a terrifying transformation, resembling an Infernal and embodying the appearance of a true dragon. On top of that, we see a possible link between doppelgangers to the phenomenon of spontaneous human combustion.
Fire Force Season 3 Episode 6 Review

In this episode, we start things with Captain Burns as we see him in his childhood. He has always been devoted to God and very diligent in his prayers. Even though other kids played, he was the only one who prayed. Here, we also see a young Joker questioning Burns’ beliefs. He asks why Burns prays when he distrusts the empire and to whom his prayers go anyway when he’s already seen dissonance in the world. It becomes clear that when Captain Burns saw the world of Adolla, his belief completely changed.
Now, he just wants to serve the entity that lies beyond his prayers. It is apparent that he will not stop, and Shinra also promises that he will not let Burns win. Thus, a huge battle starts between Shinra and Burns, where they fight with equal tenacity. This is where Joker helps Shinra immensely and gives him the chance to use hotter and stronger blue flames.

This attack was something that even Captain Burns could not stop and had to use Voltage Nova to release his ultimate form that almost tore Shinra up. However, the result of this fight and the after-effects of it were shocking, plus we got to see the best fight of this franchise.
Things are about to turn way more serious as Haumea is finally entering the battlefield herself. But we shouldn’t worry because there is another hero who came to rescue Company 8.
Verdict

Today’s episode was pretty good, and it mostly showcased the fight sequence between Shinra and Captain Burns. Captain Burns’ outlook on life and God was definitely interesting to witness, but now that things have escalated, we will have to see how Shinra and his peers managed to get out of this situation.
