Deon Cole Charleen’s Boy on Netflix brings a comedy special that is dedicated to the comedian’s late mother. As he performs on the day of her first death anniversary, the comedian takes us on a journey where he advises us on how to go through life and dating in the modern world.
Directed by Ryan Polito, Deon Cole gives an hour filled with humorous suggestions and advice while he makes fun of what is happening and keeps his audience engaged through it all. This second comedy special is definitely a fun watch and not one to miss, as he makes us cry from laughter while leaving us with bitter feelings at the end.
Netflix’s synopsis of the show reads:
In an electric stand-up special, Deon Cole ponders romance, racist hotel showers, post-coital bedtime prayers and why he loves women of a certain age.
-Deon Cole Charleen’s Boy Review contains No spoilers-
Beginning his second comedy special on Netflix, Deon Cole first gives us a heartwarming video he shot with his mother as she talks about his first comedy special, and how she needs to have a “talk” with him later. The video really makes for a wonderful start as the comedian soon appears on stage in Brooklyn to entertain his audience.

Deon Cole goes on to talk about a lot of topics which centre around girls and relationships as he even makes sure to engage his audience during the show. Even though not everyone is ready to hoot when asked about certain things, their laughter and enjoyment are very prominent throughout the show.
This has definitely been a night for them all to remember as Deon Cole does not shy away from giving us some good vibes and expressions that only add in to the fun night. However, I have to warn you that the crude humour may not really sit well with everyone watching the show, but if you can just look beyond that and look at the bigger picture then you will see it to be what it is- a stand-up comedy.
And at the end of it all, I have to say that his love for his mother is beautiful and as he brings in the troubles of people who are in their 50s that are usually ignored, I am sure that the end has really touched the hearts of many.
