Alchemy of Souls: Jung So-Min Moments That Made Us Give Her a Standing Ovation

Alchemy of Souls season 1 was filled with a wonderful plot and a cast that did such a marvellous job that we applaud them even today. Starring Lee Jae-wook, Jung So-min, Hwang Min-hyun, Shin Seong-ho, alongside other cast members, the Kdrama is created by Park Joon-hwa, Hong Jung-eun and Hong Mi-ran.

The series revolves around Jang Wook and Naksu aka Mu-deok, residents of the fictional country of Daeho, whose shortcomings get eradicated when they invariably come into each other’s lives. Naksu, an elite warrior trapped in the weak body of Mu-deok, becomes Jang Wook’s servant and secret teacher and helps him become better than the rumours that follow him.

Now, the show had some really amazing actors playing their characters to such perfection that we have all really fallen for every single character that we’ve come across in Alchemy of Souls. However, there was one person who took talent to the next level.

The talented Jung So-min has not only played three different characters to perfection but has also made a very special and irreplaceable space in our hearts. And now every time someone says Alchemy of Souls we can’t help but think about our lovely Mu-deok who is a talented assassin and the powerful Jin Bu-yeon.

And to appreciate this wonderful actor we’ve got 4 Jung So-min moments from the show that made us speechless.

Mu-deok cries out Mother

Episode 17 showed such raw emotions of a daughter who is being killed by her mother who is unaware of their relationship. And Jung So-min showed such power in this scene that made it impossible for us to divert our eyes. The single tear that flowed down her face was enough to show that she is no longer Naksu, but the real Jin Bu-yeon.

If there is one moment that we had all been looking forward to throughout the show then it has to be the one in episode 17 when Mu-deok is seen unsheathing her (Naksu’s) sword to save her pupil Jang Uk. The sheer power that she showed and the emotions that she conveyed in this scene were so powerful that they left us speechless.

Not to forget that this was the preview given to us before the show went on a week-long hiatus which made this moment among the best scenes in the show.

If anyone can shift characters with such precision, then it has to be this wonderfully talented actor. She legit brought Jin Bu-yeon and Naksu out at the same time and made us speechless. This scene in episode 18 when Jin Bu-yeon shows her superiority while Naksu shows her fearlessness is just wowing and we knew that this was her weekend to own.

Nasku Grieves for her Father

While the weekend after the hiatus was definitely owned by Jin Bu-yeon, she also left us speechless before her amazing scenes. In episode 13, Kim Do-ju holds a memorial service for Jang Kang’s friend who was killed because he turned into a wild soul shifter. The same person who was also Naksu’s father and the person whom she cannot grieve for while in front of Kim Do-ju.

The way she is seen holding back her emotions while being unable to bow down to her father is so saddening that it can make the viewers cry for the helpless daughter who saw her father die.

The actor has really done an amazing job in this season and we hope to see her return as Jin Bu-yeon in Alchemy Of Souls season 2 because this OP character really deserves a happy ending.
