You’re Nothing Special Ending Explained: Amaia Lets Out a Big Secret!

You’re Nothing Special (Tú no eres especial) let us know that these words mean nothing and that there’s always something special in every one of us.  Created by Estíbaliz Burgaleta, the show stars Oskar de la Fuente, Dèlia Brufau, María Mercado, alongside other cast members.

You’re Nothing Special is about the young Amaia who returns to her mother’s hometown only to become the new celebrity who is said to have inherited her grandmother’s powers. The young teenager then begins her journey to become the new witch in town who will cast a spell on anyone and everyone.

Netflix’s synopsis reads:

IN THIS COMEDY SERIES, A TEEN MOVES TO HER MOM’S HOMETOWN, WHERE HER NEW CLASSMATES SEEM CONVINCED SHE HAS MAGICAL POWERS THAT CAN SOLVE THEIR PROBLEMS.

You’re Nothing Special Ending Explained

The last episode of the show has Amaia looking at her mother in a different light after she goes off to meet her birth father only to realise that he has been a married man when the two conceived her. She now knows that things weren’t easy for her mother and a birth father means nothing because her step-father has loved her more than anyone.

The next day, after finding out that Irene has broken up with Asier and goes to talk to him but in the midst, she spills out the truth behind their break up. She lets him know that Irene is actually a lesbian which is why this happened. But what she didn’t know was that Asier will tell this to his friend who will, in turn, spread this news.

Later, that night before she leaves for the party, Ona tells Amaia that they will soon be able to return to Barcelona but the latter is not ready to part from Asier. She thinks that she has a chance with him and doesn’t want to give up on it. Undecided about the move, she leaves for the party.

There, everyone is looking funny at her when Irene suddenly comes behind and splashes her drink on her face. She tells Amaia that she feels betrayed by her because she let out her secret to the whole town.

Amaia is shocked and embarrassed and rushes to an isolated corner. Javi and Laura come by to help her and convince her to let go of what happened and enjoy the party.

She once again joins the fun until she spots Asier and goes to basically hit on him. However, during their conversation she once again leans into him and tries to kiss him when Asier moves back, shocked. He then tries to connect the dots and thinks that she had been one of the reasons for his breakup with Irene.

Once again embarrassed, she takes shelter under a tree where Zhao comes by to give her company. On the other hand, Javi once again spots the guy who had been following him for the past few days and storms to him to know why he has been stalking him.

But all anger ceases once he gets to know that the guy is actually interested in him and is none other than Shy2005 whom he has been chatting with online.

The two then start speaking and the guy introduces himself as Romeo. This clicks something in Javi’s head as he recalls Amaia’s words of a certain Romeo entering his life and all the other incidents that took place whenever she used her so-called magic.

He then leans into Romeo and the two share a kiss which makes the people around them hoot. Laura is happy for the two but then turns to see Amaia and Zhao sharing a kiss which makes her feel left alone and sad.

She then turns to Chivite who is handling the music and kisses him in front of everyone. And just like that, the show ends.

Will there be a Season 2?

While You’re Nothing Special is your typical teenager show, I would like a sequel because I feel like that magic has just started. Javi finally believes that Amaia’s powers may really exist and that this has just been the beginning.

On the other hand, I want to really know more about how these teenagers will grow out to be. Also, will Amaia stay in this small town or will she go back to Barcelona, because it seems to me that this small town has started to grow on her?

There are quite a few loose ends in this show and I would like to have a sequel which could answer these questions. Plus I think that if they do make a season 2 then it can actually be more epic with more magic and secrecy.
