-Alchemy of Souls Episode 6 Recap contains spoilers-
Alchemy of Souls episode 6 starts with the memory between Seo Yul and Naksu, the days when she realised his true identity and told him to leave. We then see Seo Yul trying to help Mu-deok in cooking only to do a bad job and anger Mu-deok. However, he doesn’t quit and continues to help. Later while eating Mu-deok points out that if a pupil is willing to learn then she will continue to teach them. Jang Uk is jealous of the master-pupil moment between the two and feels insecure.
Back in Songrim, Master Lee along with Park Jin and Heo Yeom discuss the soul shifters case while in front of the two bodies that they have found. Park Jin is suspicious of Cheonbugwan’s involvement with the soul shifters as were the ones who found the bodies of Naksu’s underlings. Master Lee soon makes a connection between Naksu’s soul shifting and Mu-deok. Back in Danhyanggok, Park Dang-gu is ready to leave with Seo Yul, when he notices Jang Kang’s sword and takes it with him after asking Jang Uk.

Elsewhere, Mu-deok tells Seo Yul about Danhyanggok, when he secretly shows his concern for Naksu. However, the scene looks different in the eyes of Park Dang-gu and Jang Uk which leaves Jang Uk with a bitter feeling. When the two are about to leave, he takes back the sword from Park Dang-gu after a talk that hurt his pride. Back near the hut, Mu-deok stabs him with more merciless words in order to frustrate him so that he fights back by training.
Back in Songrim, Park Jin asks about how Jang Uk is doing and gets to know that he is living in a low-profile way. However, Jang Uk is seen practising back in Danhyanggok. Seo Yul reveals to Park Jin and Heo Yeom that he had met Naksu in his childhood but she pushed him away after getting to know his name. He then tells the two that she had once told him about her father who was a constellation recorder. This leads to Park Jin remembering a constellation recorder who was a mage from Cheonbugwan who had lost his life in the hands of the four families twenty years back.

They are able to connect Naksu with the incident of the mage and realise why she had a grudge against Seo Yul after his identity was revealed. In Danhyanggok, Mu-deok realises that the only way Jang Uk can win against the crown prince is by mastering Tansu. She begins his training but Jang Uk is skeptical of being able to master it so quickly as one needs to master Chisu for that first. However, he diligently trains under Mu-deok’s instructions. But, this leads to his hand turning red and the energy in his arm starts rotting, as the two end up in another argument.

In the palace, the crown prince notices another concubine entering the palace. Jin Mu tells him that this is because a ruler with the energy of the King’s star will be born and that is who the king wants. Jin Mu talks about the king and the crown princes’ fear of this prophecy and takes this chance to provoke him against Jang Uk. Meanwhile in Danhyanggok, master Lee tells the two about the rumour of Jang Uk and Jin Cho-yeon getting married. Jang Uk is shocked by this news and heads over to meet housekeeper Kim.
Elsewhere, Jin Cho-yeon shows Park Dang-gu a letter that she has written for Jang Uk, but when he opens the letter he smells something fragrant. She tells Park Dang-gu that it is a special scent that incurs the feeling of love, but when she sees that it has affected him she stops him from smelling it any further. Somewhere else, Mu-deok and Jang Uk go separate ways after reaching the shores of the city. However, Mu-deok is soon caught by people from Cheonbugwan and taken to the crown prince. He tells her to make sure that Jang Uk doesn’t come for the duel as he doesn’t want to kill him and become enemies with the Jang family or Songrim.

He makes fun of her saying that will get abandoned by Jang Uk after he marries into the Jin family, but later suggests taking her in as his maid. But she refuses by saying she won’t serve just anyone. Seo Yul finds out that it was Mu-deok who tried to sell Jang Uk’s spirit plaque, but while leaving he sees a dressed-up Mu-deok and asks her about the spirit plaque. At the Jang family house, Jang Uk and housekeeper Kim are discussing the marriage. He says that he cannot get married into the Jin family and that she has to take care of the situation.

Alchemy of Souls Episode 6 Review
Alchemy of Souls episode 6 completely revealed the identity of master Lee as the pupil of master Seo Gyeong who was the founder of Songrim. He is a man of profound knowledge and someone who is here to help. While this was another episode of more revelations, we are further exposed to the situation occurring at the palace. This may be completely known in the upcoming episodes and is something to look forward to.
The crown prince may not have been among the best characters till now, but today we got to know that he can be caring too though he may not show it in a nice way. On the other hand, we witnessed glimpses of insecurity in both Jang Uk and Mu-deok throughout the episode. Even though Jang Uk gave Mu-deok a hard time during his unmotivated phase, I like how he gave it his all when he started the training. His trust in Mu-deok is commendable.
This show has not given me a moment of wanting to skip forward and I am really enjoying the pace that it follows. The mysteries it leaves me with each week makes me look forward to future episode more eagerly.
