This just keeps getting crazier with each episode. Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 Episode 4 was a wild ride from start to finish, one that I’m not sure I’m over yet. Let’s discuss what happened in this review!

What more is there left to be said about Attack On Titan? Even if you only consider yourself a casual anime fan, this show is probably one that you know about and watch avidly. It is an action and supernatural show based on the works of Hajime Isayama. It is known as Shingeki no Kyojin in original Japanese, and thus this half of the season is also called Shingeki no Kyojin Season 4 Part 2. You can also call it Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 or Shingeki no Kyojin Final Season Part 2 if you’d like.

This season is being animated by Studio MAPPA, a powerhouse studio behind several immensely popular anime properties, including Jujutsu Kaisen and the future Chainsaw Man. This season is directed by Yuiichirou Hayashi, with Jun Shishido serving as the chief director of the show. The duo was also in charge of Part 1 of the final season, alongside several other acclaimed anime such as Kakegurui and Hajime no Ippo. You can find our review of the previous episode right here.

Attack on Titan The Final Season Part 2 Episode 4 Review- Let’s All Just Calm Down For A Moment

Eren and Zeke Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 Episode 4

I was afraid that it would come to this, that it would get harder and harder to talk about this show because of the years-long buildup it has taken to get to this point. There are expectations attached to the show to such a degree that there will be a controversy if the creators deliver a product that’s anything less than perfect. As such, people are out for the blood of whoever dares spoil their experience of watching this show, and I can’t say that I disagree. Hence, let’s proceed with this review with extreme precaution. Don’t worry, still no spoilers here.

The best part of the entire episode was that there was no Gabi in this one. This fact alone makes this episode the best of the entire fourth season, but there’s more to it than just this. We left the last episode as the aimbotter Gabi decapitated Eren as he ran towards Zeke. Eren and Zeke both met the founder Ymir in a weird dimension where time doesn’t move. Eren finally revealed that he wasn’t a part of Zeke’s plan and that his character arc hadn’t flip-flopped as much as the show wanted us to believe.

Young Eren Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 Episode 4

As the episode ended, so did the audiences’ heartbeat as it was revealed that Zeke now held the true power of the Founding Titan and didn’t need Eren’s backstabbing support after all. If you thought that was a big plot twist, you are in for a wild ride in Shingeki no Kyojin Final Season Part 2 Episode 4. This episode focuses entirely on the events that led Eren and Zeke up to this point, as Zeke intends to show Eren how their father brainwashed both of them.

What follows is a tremendously emotional journey, one which takes us from Zeke’s past to Eren’s, going from strength to strength as we explored the hitherto unknown nuances of the thought process of Grisha Yeager. The show revisited the paths it already had before, giving us a look at the true story of what led to Grisha murdering the entire Royal Family and stealing the Founding Titan from them. We also learned some truths about the Titans and how one of them differs from the rest.

All of it was done in the show’s signature storytelling style of telling us things that make sense from the top and are generally coherent and logical, you get even more confused than you were earlier if you decide to think about it. As is the case with everything with magic in it, the plot takes some liberties with its magic system to generate intrigue and tell a good story, which is fine and a completely acceptable thing to do. I’m not complaining about this, and please don’t interpret these statements as such. This is merely an observation about the show.

Overall, Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 Episode 4 was breathtaking in its emotion and plot reveals. The exploration of Zeke and Grisha’s relationship and the plot twist were the best parts of a very strong episode. While there is still some confusion about the episode’s ending that prevents it from getting a full score, I expect that to be addressed in future episodes. If you read our review of this week’s Demon Slayer, I stand by the statements I made there about this week’s standings. The biggest gripe with this show is that it is only here once a week.

Verdict

Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 Episode 4 was a mind-blowing episode that served to blast open the show’s narrative and told a fantastic story about family and revenge.
