Locke and Key Season 3: 5 Moments From the Netflix Show That Makes It Worth the Watch

Locke and Key Season 3, unfortunately, marks the end of the fan favourite Netflix fantasy series. The show that is based on the comic-book series of the same name by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodríguez, is developed by Carlton Cuse, Meredith Averill, and Aron Eli Coleite. It stars Darby Stanchfield, Connor Jessup, Emilia Jones, Jackson Robert Scott, Laysla De Oliveira and Petrice Jones amongst others.

The final season of Locke and Key consisted of eight episodes in total, each with a runtime of 40-50 minutes. The show was not as long as the previous seasons and ended on a bittersweet note but, had enough closure for the fans to move on. A lot of the viewers did not gel well with Locke and Key Season 3, whereas many others liked it a lot.

5 Best Moments From Locke and Key Season 3

The Bode-Dodge Twist

One would be lying if they say they did not enjoy the return of Dodge, especially in Bode’s body! Laysla De Oliveira’s Dodge has been that epic villain who has gotten us where we are in the show and when Dodge jumped back with Bode from the past to the present timeline, we knew for sure that things would not be easy for the Lockes.

However, the fun twist was seeing Dodge enter Bode’s body after using the Ghost Key and being a threatening dangerous menace as she continued to live in Bode’s body. This not only gave Jackson Robert Scott to expand on his acting skills but, also kept the audience guessing about the character’s fidelity towards the Lockes versus the Demons.

Nina’s Story

Knowing that Nina knows about the keys has been a hard pill to digest for the audience as the mommy Locke has been ever so involved with the keys, often landing her kids in trouble. Yet one cannot underestimate the difficult journey Nina took this season to cope with her drinking problems from the past. Using the Head Key to not only revisit the past but, sit through difficult memories and get past it one huge progress Nina Locke’s character made this season.

Tyler Remembering the Keys

For Locke and Key fans, it is no surprise that Tyler Locke chooses not to use the Memory Key and grows up, forgetting about it. With Jackie’s death and all the other evils, he witnessed last season, this seems like a good choice. However, in Locke and Key Season 3, Tyler felt like he was in the same place we saw Nina during the first two seasons, not knowing about the Keys and the magic, creating a distance between herself and her children. Thus, Tyler wants to hold on to the people he has and know them better by using the Memory Key to remember. It was one brave and endearing step taken by the character.

Sam Lesser’s Redemption

Sam accepts there is no excuse for his actions. Even under the influence of Dodge, it was Sam who pulled the trigger on Rendell, throwing the family into the ultimate magical mess. But, he is trying to be a better person and we know that since last season when he helped Kinsey with the Angel Key. In Locke and Key Season 3, Sam again does his best to get forgiveness and redeem himself. With his death in Gordie Shaw’s head as an attempt to stall Gideon, the man did everything he could until his last breath.

The Last Glimpse of Rendell Locke

Although dead, Rendell Locke is a character that has largely influenced the actions of other characters and the mystery associated with the Keys. Yet we never really have enough of Rendell Locke to know the kind of man he was to his family. Filled with flashbacks, Locke and Key Season 3 tries to keep the spirit of Rendell alive. However, it is Bode’s last request that gives us the last and most accurate glimpse at Rendell Locke.

Before the Locke children get rid of the Keys, Bode requests using the Timeshift Key to meet Rendell one last time. Nina, Tyler, Kinsey and Bode go back in time to meet Rendell and spend some quality time with him.
