2018 Movie Twitter Review: Tovino Thomas Starrer Called the Magnum Opus of Malayalam Cinema For Showing the Real Kerala Story

2018 Movie Twitter reviews are all praises for the latest survival thriller released on May 5, 2023. Directed by Jude Anthany Joseph and co-written by Akhil P Dharmajan, it is Produced by Kavya Film Company & P K Prime Production. The film shows the courageous story of the people who were stuck in real-life in the 2018 Kerala floods.

The ensemble cast of the film includes Tovino Thomas as Anoop, Kunchako Boban as Shaji Punnoos, Asif Ali as Nixon, Vineeth Sreenivasan as Rameshan, Aparna Balamurali as Ann Maria Jacob, Kalaiyarasan as Sethupathy, Narain as Johnny, Lal as Mathachan, Indrans, Sudheesh, Gilu Joseph, Vinitha Koshy, Aju Varghese, Thanvi Ram, Sshivada, Gauthami Nair and others.

Within three days of its release, 2018 is off to a big start with all houseful shows & tickets sold out for upcoming ones. It is truly emerging as the next blockbuster of Malayalam cinema as it will soon cross the 10 crore threshold in terms of box office collection. The worldwide collection is said to be even more, which is just exemplary in such a short amount of days.

From the stellar acting of the cast and how they expressed intricate emotions, to the direction, soundtrack and even VFX, viewers are in awe of all the aspects of the film. They have been sharing numerous screengrabs, which all the more solidify their views of claiming it a ‘magnum opus’.

The extended title of the film reads – Everyone is a Hero and every character and part of the film is turning out to be a hero, winning hearts all around. Many fans also pointed out how Tovino Thomas was also part of the flood relief work when the tragedy happened, and playing a similar role on the screen brings it to a full circle, which paid off.

The film is getting traction as the ‘real Kerala story’ showing the resilience of the people in the face of brutal nature. Another surprising element was also revealed when the director shared how Nivin Pauly also had a cameo in the film but was cut out in the final version. Many are reimagining what it would have been like and are requesting the makers to release it as a special clip. Overall, the film is receiving the best reviews and it ought to break many records, looking at its steady run in theatres.
