Hell’s Paradise Season 2 Episode 7 Recap

Right from the start, it genuinely felt like Toma would side with Chobei because of their bond. The tension made it seem like he might cross over completely, and honestly, that would’ve been a devastating but believable turn. But then the narrative flipped. Watching the two brothers stand shoulder to shoulder and launch an attack on Ju Fa and Tao Fa was such an unexpected shift. And the animation during that sequence? Absolutely stunning. You could physically feel how much Toma has grown through the way he carried himself in battle.

Meanwhile, Tao Fa takes on Gantetsusai and Fuchi, and it quickly becomes clear that they’re outmatched. Her mastery over Tao overwhelms them, especially since they can’t wield it properly themselves. That’s when they recall the Tao training they received, which becomes their only real shot at survival. What makes it especially tragic is that Fuchi’s elemental affinity actually counters Tao Fa’s, giving him a natural advantage. But because he can’t properly harness Tao, that edge means almost nothing.

By the end, the emotional dynamics shift in a big way. Gantetsusai and Fuchi grow closer, moving beyond their initial hostility. Fuchi, in particular, shows that he genuinely wants everyone to make it off the island alive.

Today’s episode begins with Gantetsusai’s past memories, where we get to see just how hard he worked and trained before becoming a skilled fighter. When he was very young, he would train with a very powerful master who let him know how he should start sacrificing more things to get stronger when he got older. He realised this teaching later when he had to restrict his eyes to win against Tao Fa. At first, it was becoming difficult for both Gantetsusai and Fuchi to control Tao Fa, but Gantetsusai finally managed to cut her.

Ju Fa, who was fighting with Toma and Chobei, realizes that his partner is in trouble. Neither brother fares pretty well against Ju Fa, and Chobei almost decides to use his demonic powers to win the fight. However, his brother stops him from losing himself yet again. That is when Ju Fa mixes himself with Tao Fa and becomes one entity to fight together. He also begins to reflect on his life, and we see just how close Tao Fa and Ju Fa have been from the very moment they were born.

Rien was once very kind to them, but then they also became ruthless after a certain point. Ju Fa himself started to question all the hideous things they were doing, but there were no other ways for them to continue living. Tao Fa and Ju Fa were always the soft-hearted ones, and it becomes more apparent from their past memories. To protect himself and Tao Fa, Ju Fa comes to the conclusion that it is not they who are crazy but the world, which is not normal.

Verdict

I really loved today’s episode, and I specifically liked the walk down memory lane that we got. The animation quality was top-notch, and the emotional weight was also really good. Action was again one of the strong points of this show.
