Zom 100 Bucket List of the Dead Episode 6 Review- Recreational Vehicle

RV Zom 100 Bucket List of the Dead Episode 6

Before you ask, no, there isn’t an episode of this show next week. This has to be one of the more ridiculous streaming schedules for a show than we’ve seen in a while., but sadly, that’s becoming more of a norm than an anomaly these days. Still, as they say, good things take time, and Zom 100 is certainly a good thing. It could be better, of course, but what couldn’t? This is as close as you are going to get to the best zombie show in this day and age.

Tired of city life, this episode sees Akira and Kencho decide to leave Tokyo behind as their stomping grounds and go to the small town where Akira’s parents lived. That is a solid idea. Given how few people live in some of those Japanese towns, it will most certainly be safer there than in the biggest city in the world. They’re not the only ones with the same idea, as they have the pleasure of meeting Shizuka once again in their quest. That didn’t take as long as she had hoped for.

Akira Heartbroken Zom 100 Bucket List of the Dead Episode 6

Specifically, the episode is titled “RV of the Dead”, and their quest is to find one of those vehicles for a safer journey across Japan. I would have believed you if you had told me that the show had received a hefty payment from Big RV to make this episode. So much time is spent on (in jest) the three characters losing their absolute mind over some of those vehicles, a segment that went on for way too long and did not have much of a point in existing. Yes, RVs are useful, but there are better ways to convey that than spazzing out over vehicles, especially seeing what happened at the end of that segment.

The dynamic between Shizuka, Kencho, and Akira is still very awkward, and the setup to get them together wasn’t very well written, which would have been fine if it was funny, which it also wasn’t. Maybe more time needs to be spent with just the three of them if they are to be the central figures of the series, as this game of chicken that Shizuka keeps playing doesn’t help things. At least what happened next was one of the most intriguing things to happen in the show so far, as Akira has another encounter with the life he thought he had left behind.

This is essentially the first “real” storyline the show has had, as it promises to be one that can shake Akira to the core and challenges what he has transformed into over his time battling zombies and leaving his past life behind. It is a very nice change of pace and a way to generate a lot of tension. The episode is also a multi-parter, as we won’t know how things went down until the next episode. That’s also a fine change of pace, as we actually have something to look forward to for once. This episode had its ups and downs, but it was solid nonetheless.

Verdict

Zom 100 Bucket List of the Dead Episode 6 was a decent one, although we seem to be approaching a point of diminishing returns with the show. At least this episode looked to switch things up, which is much appreciated.
