Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 4 Recap
In this episode, we learn more about what it takes to become a Magia Vende at Rigarden Magical Academy. To qualify for the upper institute, a student must earn at least 7,200 out of the 12,000 total credits available. This requirement is non-negotiable for anyone aiming to become a Magia Vende. Unfortunately, Will is far from reaching this milestone, with only 5,405 credits and his final year rapidly coming to an end, making it unlikely he’ll be promoted anytime soon. However, there is still one way he can showcase his abilities: the prestigious Grand Magic Festival.
The festival hosts various competitions, attracting high-ranking mages from the tower who scout for new talent. Even students who lack the required credits can earn a promotion if they catch the eye of one of the four factions from the tower: Lightning Lord, Sacred Elf, Flame Emperor, or Icemaiden. However, impressing these factions is no easy feat, as it requires performing magic that could rival even the highest mages.

Will is uncertain about participating in the competition, as his last attempt ended in disaster. He was accused of cheating and received harsh criticism, drawing attention for all the wrong reasons. Yet, something happens that compels him to take a chance and sign up for the festival despite his reservations.
The episode also introduces three other significant characters who are top contenders in Will’s class: Lihanna, who has 10,100 credits; Wignall, with 10,075 credits; and Julius, with 10,048 credits. Their personalities vary, but Julius stands out as particularly unpleasant. He is not only overly confident in his abilities but also ruthless and dismissive toward anyone who isn’t a mage.

In the next episode, we might see Will challenging Julius without thinking about the consequences. Julius has brutally treated the dwarves in front of Will. Will thinks of the dwarves as equal and respects their tenacity, hence, he becomes extremely mad at this kind of behaviour and swears to make Julius apologize.
