Agent from Above Ending Explained

The series follows a spirit medium for the Third Crown Prince, Han Chieh, who is living off the sins that he has committed in the past and trying to save his parents from a life of eternal damnation. He fights evil spirits and supernatural entities with the help of the powers granted to him by the Third Crown Prince, who has taken a special interest in him despite whatever he has done in the past.

The motions start off with Chieh meeting Yeh Tzu, who arrives at his place asking for help with a talisman. It ends up being the straw that breaks the camel’s back as, after this, Chieh realises that a lot of people are turning up dead following a pattern and using supernatural entities against their will. He, at first, thinks that it’s Chen Chi-sha, an adversary he had previously defeated. However, it turns out it’s Wu Tien-chi, Chi-sha’s mentee, who is after the Demon King’s powers.

What were the Demon King’s plans?

The Demon King, much like all evil entities, wanted to rule all three realms of the universe and was using not just Han Chieh but also Yeh Tzu to his advantage. It was actually him who was pulling all the strings and sent her to him, all the while corrupting her from the inside and using her body to grow a new lung. In a shocking twist, the Demon King lets Han Chieh know that without his lung, Yeh Tzu would’ve died long ago due to her leukaemia.

What sin did Chieh commit in the past?

After his parents died in a fire at their temple, Han Chieh jumped off the building, holding himself responsible for their demise. As a result, the Third Crown Prince took Chieh from hell and used him as his spirit medium in his father’s place so that he could live off the debt of saving his life.

Did Han Chieh defeat the Demon King?

Desperate to save his new friend, Han Chieh makes a deal with the Demon King to take the lung from Tzu and replace it with his own, so that she can hopefully live. However, it was all a ruse and the Demon King, getting his approval, takes away his heart. Thankfully, the Third Crown Prince appears and takes over Han Chieh’s body, fighting against the Demon King to stop him from causing further chaos. After a lengthy battle, good wins over evil and the Demon King is forced to retreat, leaving Tien-chi to suffer the consequences of his actions.

He is pushed over the building and is immediately transported to Hell, wherein he will live for millennia atoning for his sins.

What happens in the end?

In the end, Han Chieh signs on to continue his work with the Third Crown Prince to give Yeh Tzu some relief before she passes from her illness, who finally tells him the truth – he was never on the hook for his parents’ reincarnation. His parents had long since reincarnated, and the god was merely testing him, making him repay his debts like this.

In the end, Chieh seems happy and hopeful to be doing good work, but evil seems to be just around the corner, bringing back enemies from the underworld for some other nefarious purposes.
