Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 3 Recap

Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 4 Review Will Must Step Up

In this episode, we explore more of Wistoria and delve into Will’s life. Although he’s just a student, Will also works as a paper boy. Through this job, he discovers that Elfie has developed a new form of magic. To create this magic, she needs Frost Walker ice cores, which serve as essential catalysts. The school issues a request for students to retrieve these cores from a dungeon, with Elfie as the client.

Will, who is deeply infatuated with Elfie, eagerly agrees to help. He asks his friend and roommate, Rusty, to prepare some magic items. Unlike others, Rusty treats Will with kindness and respect. Will then heads to the dungeon’s 4th floor, where many students have gathered to collect the items.

The episode highlights the significance of creating new magic, with Elfie hailed as the most powerful magician ever, having invented 12 new spells. This makes ice magic highly regarded.

In the dungeon, Will encounters an underclassman named Iris, who is being attacked by a creature. Grateful for Will’s help, she shows appreciation rather than disdain. Will then faces a deadly creature and proves his strength even without using magic. The episode features impressive animation and epic background music, culminating in a surprising twist.

Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 4 Review And Recap

Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 4 Review Will Must Step Up

Today’s episode had more information about how one can become a Magia Vende in the Rigarden Magical Academy. One must complete at least 7200 credits out of the 12,000 total credits, after which they can advance to the upper institute. This is an absolute condition if someone wants to become a Magia Vende, and Will is far from that goal as he only has 5405 credits. Plus, this is his last year in school which means there is no way he can be promoted to the upper institute anytime soon. However, there is one way through which one can still be noted for their talents, and it is through the famous grand magic festival.

In this festival, a number of different competitions are held, and high mages come from the tower to scout new talents. Even if someone does not have the appropriate credits, they can still be promoted if one of the four factions of the tower chooses them. These factions include Lightning Lord, Sacred Elf, Flame Emperor and Icemaiden. But that sort of miracle is very hard to achieve, as one will have to perform magic that can even put high mages to shame.

Our hero is not sure about his participation in this competition, as previously, he had a very bad experience. He attained attention for all the wrong reasons and was heavily criticised for cheating. But something happens that forces Will to go out of his way and apply for this festival anyway.

In this episode, we also see three other very important characters who are the main contenders for coming out at the top in Will’s class. They are Lihanna with 10,100 credits, Wignall with 10,075 credits and Julius with 10,048 credits. Their personalities are not very decent, specifically, Julius, who is an absolute trash of a human being. He is not only overconfident about his skills but also very ruthless and demeans everyone who is not a mage.

Verdict

Today’s episode was interesting, and it showed the social standing of other races in this world. The dwarves, who cannot use magic, are treated very poorly, and Will is someone who finds solace in their company. Hence, when a situation arrives where the dwarf people are insulted vehemently, Will steps up and finally sheds his weak persona.
