Wind Breaker Episode 4 Review and Recap – Umemiya Is Reliable

Today’s episode turned in a different direction altogether, as I did not expect our hero to butt heads with potential enemies so soon. But things would have turned south anyway, as Sakura literally picked a fight with the wrong dude from an equally wrong school.
The episode starts with our first proper introduction to the famous leader of Bofurin. You would expect him to be slightly different from what he sounded during his speech, but no, he is exactly as easygoing and almost silly as he sounded. He is too much in love with his crops and might also be the reason behind Toma’s weak stomach, with his rather relaxed antics.

But just when you wonder what might have drawn an entire society and school to this man, you see the reason. He is the quintessential big bro who always has your back. Whatever problem you are dealing with does not matter, as he is the one who will protect you, if he considers you his precious family and Umemiya thinks the entire Makochi town to be his loved ones. So now that his men have pretty much started a possible gang war, he will be the one to protect his siblings.
But this does not mean Umemiya is weak. Though the episode did very little to confirm just how strong he is, he is definitely hiding a beast within. When he sees the leader of Shishitoren, Choji, beating his men, even Sakura gets a chill down his spine from the sudden shift of aura within Umemiya. We further get proof of his deadly persona when he stops Sakura from meddling with the rival leader with just a sharp command.

And then happens one of the biggest developments of this series. Choji comes directly to Furin Academy to challenge Umemiya to a one-to-one fight. And this guy is not right in the head either. Apparently, he is too bored at the top and as Umemiya seems to have fun with his people, Choji wants everything that Umemiya has, Umemiya included.
One thing leads to another, and we have an all-out battle between selected members of both schools to look forward to in the next episode.
Verdict

Today’s episode was certainly just the trailer before the actual setup. Yes, the development might come off as a bit corny, but it is entertaining and fun to watch.
You do anticipate the clash that is about to come and even though we know how things might go, it’s still interesting to come up with ideas about future developments.
