Wind Breaker Episode 12 Recap

This episode opens with Sakura feeling embarrassed and overwhelmed after being given a significant responsibility at his new school. Ostracized and avoided by his peers, Sakura has developed a deep-seated mistrust of bonds, especially friendships.
Despite his reservations, Sakura soon learns that not everyone is the same and that genuine friendships are possible. When Suo and others nominate him as the first-grade captain, Sakura is both embarrassed and shocked. Initially reluctant, his fate is sealed when the unexpected second-year grade captain, Ren, orders him to accept the position. With no way to back out, Sakura must now lead the first years and set an example as a reliable leader. This role presents a chance for him to prove his worth at Furin.
With great power comes great responsibility, and Sakura faces his first mission as grade captain. Surprisingly simple, this rescue mission provides a crucial lesson in leadership, thanks to Ren’s guidance. Sakura begins to understand what it truly means to lead.
However, Sakura’s journey is just beginning. His most pressing task is to remember the names of his classmates. Fortunately, he is not alone; his vice-captains, Suo and Nirei, are there to support him.
Wind Breaker Episode 13 Review

This episode begins with us and the protagonist meeting with the key members of Bofurin. Here, we see the 3 kings who directly work under Ume, along with Hiragi, whom we have seen before. But other than their faces, we get no information about them nor do we see them speak. Hopefully, in the next season, we will be introduced to these characters more thoroughly.
Then the narrative shifts towards one of the incidents that happened with one of the students of Sakura’s class. We see Anzai get tangled with some pretty shady dudes from a very dangerous gang called Keel. Not only that, but they mercilessly beat him and he for some reason refuses to talk about it. It is natural that they share some history together because Anzai vehemently tries to cover things up. But how come such a harmless boy as Anzai has dealings with a group like Keel?

Therefore, even though, reluctant at first, Sakura willingly goes out of his comfort zone to get involved in Anzai’s mess. Not only that, but he also gets very embarrassed in front of a girl with whom he makes a promise so that she does not cry. These small instances make us believe how soft-hearted Sakura actually is. He cannot abandon those who need him and even then he pretends to be cold he’s the warmest in the bunch.
Another thing that we notice in this episode is how swift Sakura is to adapt to his role as a captain. He quickly understands that someone from his class is in danger and takes no time to offer his help to that person even though his support is rejected at first. Though I like this part, what I absolutely did not like is how abruptly the episode ended.

Verdict
The season comes to a conclusion very underwhelmingly where it almost feels like a normal episode is ending. I understand that they did it so that we are hyped about the next season, but if they do not release the second season soon, then this sort of unfinished end will not make any sense. Hopefully, they’re planning for a comeback ASAP.
