Wind Breaker Episode 11 Recap

This episode was lighthearted and surprisingly enjoyable. Sakura returns to his normal school life, now facing increased attention due to his bravery and strength. As an introverted loner, this new popularity is a bit overwhelming for him.

Sakura is also approached by people who previously ignored him, like Taiga, a quirky character who immediately inquires about Sakura’s aesthetics. Taiga’s personality, much like Nirei’s, is optimistic but somewhat scatterbrained. He quickly forces his friendship upon Sakura, Suo, and Nirei.

The group heads to a café where they encounter Kiryu, who arrives with a girl, much to Sakura’s embarrassment. This chance meeting leads to an unexpected fight and the formation of a close-knit friend group for Sakura, something he never anticipated.

The episode focuses on the everyday lives of Sakura and his friends, showcasing their school activities. It’s refreshing to see Sakura engaging in typical teenage experiences and finding genuine friends, a stark contrast to his past treatment. Despite the lighter tone, the episode doesn’t skimp on action, featuring an interesting and well-choreographed fight sequence towards the end.

Wind Breaker Episode 12 Review Starting As A Captain

Today’s episode starts with a very embarrassed Sakura, who did not think that he would receive such a big responsibility right after moving into his new school. Sakura has always been ostracised by others and avoided by his peers, this is why his hatred towards any bonds, especially, friendship ones, is very apparent.

However, what he does not realize is that everyone is not the same, and he can have genuine friends in his life. Thus, when he got nominated to be the captain of the 1st grade by Suo and others, he was embarrassed and shocked. Though he was reluctant at first to accept his position, a quick order from the very unexpected second year’s grade captain Ren seals his fate. Sakura cannot back out now, and he must lead the first years and set an example as a reliable leader. This is also a great opportunity for him to prove that he is worthy of being at the top of Furin.

But with great powers comes great responsibilities, and we see it firsthand when Sakura gets the first mission after becoming a grade captain. The mission was of utmost importance, and even you will be surprised by the lack of complexity of the whole rescue mission. But even here, Sakura gets wisdom from Ren and realizes a bit more about what it means to become a true leader.

But that is not the end of it, as the journey has just begun for Sakura. The most important mission for him is definitely remembering the names of his classmates. Thankfully, he is not alone in his journey, and he will be supported by his very own vice captains, Suo and Nirei.

Verdict

Today’s episode was entertaining and light-hearted. We are mostly given snippets of Sakura’s daily life and how his days will be from now on. It is also interesting to see that the people closest to him will be Suo and Nirei, who are very efficient in their own ways. Nirei can remember things pretty quickly, and on the other hand, Suo is a master negotiator who is good at playing mind games. It will be interesting to see them support Sakura.
