Starting a new month on a high note with web series releasing in May week 1, we can’t wait to get a hold of all the drama, thrills, action and comedy that’s up next on our binge list. If your answer to all of these or even one of these questions was ‘Yes’, then you’re in for some fun and good luck.
Several web and TV series are kick-starting their new chapters, while others are opening the first page of their stories. May couldn’t be any more exciting than this, especially when we’ve already got our watchlist calendar confirmed. Web Series Releasing in May Week 1 (2023)
MAY 1
MasterChef Australia Season 15
Releasing on May 2 for Indian audiences on Disney+ Hotstar, the cooking show is about to become an international grand affair again with its 15th instalment titled ‘Secrets and Surprises’ as the reality series will raise the bar of culinary competition. With the show being hosted by Chefs Andy Allen, Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo, 18 contestants will fight it out by showcasing innovative delectable twists to their dishes.
White House Plumbers
(Streaming On: HBO Max)
The miniseries starring Woody Harrelson, Justin Theroux, Domhnall Gleeson, Kieran Shipka and others is an American political drama based on the book Integrity by Egil Krogh and Matthew Krogh. Taking a peek behind the Watergate scandal, the series centres around how President Richard Nixon’s political operatives ended up sabotaging the presidency when they were actually meant to protect it.

Love Village
(Streaming On: Netflix)
Here comes another Netflix reality TV series! The Japanese series does exactly what many shows of its type have done before – recruiting singles emerging form different backgrounds to a location elsewhere where they can “the one” for themselves. However, the one difference that will define this show is that it will deal with only singles that are either 35 years of age or older, and teleport them to the countryside instead of building a fancy escapade for them.
Menendez + Menudo: Boys Betrayed
(Streaming On: Peacock)
Bringing out another true crime docuseries that focusses on an incident set of 1989, this Peacock series will dig into the infamous case of Lyle and Erik Menendez killing their parents. But that’s not all. The show will trace how this case was linked to Menudo, the Puerto Rican boy band that was often referred to as “Most Iconic Latino Pop Music Band”.
A Small Light
(Streaming On: Disney+)
The upcoming biographical miniseries star Bel Powley as as Miep Gies, Liev Schrieber as Otto Frank and others. It will bring to light the renowned reality of the Frank family during World War II when the former is asked by Otto Frank, Anne Frank’s father, to provide his family with an abode.
The Tailor
(Streaming On: Netflix)
The Turkish intimate and suspenseful series is all about a famous tailor who begins sewing a wedding dress for his best friend’s fiancee. However, all three characters withhold dark secrets that endanger the present trajectory of their lives.

Star Wars Visions Volume 2

Made by several studios across the globe, the upcoming season of the anthology series will consist 9 new short films. Digging into the global mythos of the Star Wars saga, this season will bring in stories from Spain, Ireland, India, U.K., South Korea, France, Japan, the U.S, and South Africa.
Bupkis

Ever wondered what keeps the ever-present star, Pete Davidson going? Or what misadventures shape his life? Bupkis will present the answers to all of these questions, but in a heightened and fictionalised manner, that will leave you with what the word aptly means – “nothing at all”.
Sanctuary

The gritty Japanese TV drama will introduce us to a desperate boy who becomes a sumo wrestler and holds his fans’ attention with his brash and smug attitude. His action soon shake up the sport’s world that has its ties linked to tradition.

Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo

The Hotstar specials Hindi series features an unmissable star cast with Dimple Kapadia, Isha Talwar, Radhika Madan and Angira Dhar leading the show. Focussed on the contacting generational dynamics shared between an “unapologetically hardcore” mother-in-law and equally firm younger group of women, this is set to be a crime drama show that will also fathom deep into family politics.
Shabash Feluda

In this Bengali series, Feluda and Topshe are assigned a case in Gangtok by Mr Sasadhar Bose which requires them to probe into the accidental death of his business partner. What secrets lie ahead? Parambrata Chatterjee, Rwitobroto Mukherjee and Rudranil Ghosh step into the light, playing the titular characters of the show.
Taste the Nation With Padma Lakshmi Season 2

Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938
(Streaming On: Amazon Prime Video)
Reuniting most of the major characters from the first supernatural season of the series while also introducing us to some new ones this time, the series stars Lee Dong-wook, Kim So-yeon, Kim Bum, Ryu Kyung-soo and others. As the titular ‘gumiho’ (nine-tailed fox) gets unexpectedly transported to the year 1938, he meets some old friends while facing a topsy-turvy reality as things of the past (now his present) are quite different from the modern world’s present (now his past).
