MasterChef Australia Season 15 Episode 20 Review: After anticipating for months, the show premiered its fifteenth season with wonderful home cooks ready to win the grand title. On the judge’s panel, we have the previous season’s professional chefs, Andy Allen, Melissa Leong, and late Jock Zonfrillo, back on the set to taste and deliver excellent critics. Surprisingly, it doesn’t stop with them because other professionals like Jamie Oliver will also be making cameos to test the contestants with their best.
The participating contestants are Adi Nevgi, Alice Han, Amy Tanner, Andrea Puglisi, Antonio Cruz Vaamonde, Brent Draper, Cath Collins, Declan Cleary, Grace Jupp, Jessica Perri, Larissa Sewell, Malissa Fedele, Phil Conway, Ralph Kahango, Rhiannon Anderson, Robbie Cooper, Rue Mupedzi and Theo Loizou.

For the elimination challenge all the contestants except Brent (he won the immunity pin) and Grace (she is unwell), had to test the different types of cheese and state its name. Rue, Robbie, Ralph, Malissa and Rhianon failed to name it, so they were sent to round 2, the elimination. Previously a similar elimination round was conducted, and we pointed out how irrational the test was. But, guessing the name of cheeses that look quite identical is difficult, so this idea made a cut.
Moving on, the five cooks were asked to take inspiration from the 10 nostalgic dishes displayed on the table and make their version of something tasty. They were given 75 minutes for the preparation. Each of the contestants picked an idea say Ralph a trifle cake, Rhiannon chose Mukazza, Rue went with a Swiss roll, Malissa planned for Raviolli and Robbie went ahead with his iconic curry.

Since Robbie has been making the yellow curry repeatedly, the judges asked him about its distinguishing aspect from all the episode’s curries he’s made. This question perplexed Robbie and he started all over when only around 30 minutes was left. On the other hand, Malissa’s Ravioli dough stuck on the counter. Since she only had a very few minutes, she proceeded to make pasta with the leftover dough and the sauce she made.
The judges then tasted all of their dishes in the private room. Rue’s Swiss roll was luxurious, Rhiannon’s Mukazza was outstanding and Ralph’s cake was indeed nostalgic. Then when they tried Malissa’s pasta, they saw how the pasta had no texture yet her sauce was nice. After tasting Robbie’s dish which looked appealing, the judges shared their feedback with each other that they couldn’t figure out the balance.

As expected, I repeat, as expected, Malissa was saved and Robbie was eliminated. What a biased show! Malissa literally made the pasta in the last few minutes while Robbie had enough time to make another dish. Since Malissa is a young girl and Robbie is an elderly man, the judges took him out and gave chance to Malissa. It is a beautiful gesture but Robbie is highly talented.
Malissa has been under heat plenty of times for her dishes that didn’t work out but Robbie’s preparations have always won the judges, contestants and viewers. The biased nature was so evident when they gave feedback for Robbie’s dish right after tasting Malissa’s. This is absurd and a visible ply.
MasterChef Australia Season 15 Episode 20 Review: Final Thoughts
Really disappointed. Most of the viewers (including me) are a fan of Robbie’s authentic cooking style. Just like how Robbie has always made the yellow curry, Malissa has also picked kinds of pasta every time. Isn’t it unfair not to think of the potential Robbie has? In the last elimination round, since Rhiannon has made amazing dishes in the past, the judges saved her for her capabilities. Why didn’t they do that for Robbie?

Malissa is talented indeed, however, compared to Robbie, her previous dishes never received high acclaim. Evidently, both the cooks should have gotten a second chance, or Malissa for her last-minute raw texture pasta, should have been eliminated. As said, the biased nature was so vivid in this episode and it’s a shame.

Yup. Sucks. Robbie should have stayed. He has had overall more success. Melissa should have been eliminated. This was robbie 1st and ONLY bad dish. BAD move. I hope Melissa will be eliminated next. Robbie himself didn’t expect that. Nor the rest of the contestants. They were shocked. Shocked.
Couldn’t agree more. I feel robbie was wrong. He truly deserves to stay
