Under the Queen’s Umbrella Episode 4 Preview: When, Where and How to Watch!

Under the Queen’s Umbrella (슈룹) is a historical Korean drama series directed by Kim Hyung-shik, and stars Kim Hye-soo as Queen Im Hwa-ryeong, Kim Hae-sook as Queen Dowager, and Choi Won-young as King Lee-ho. Others joining the show include Moon Sang-min as Grand Prince Sung-nam, Bae In-hyuk as Crown Prince, Yoo Seon-ho as Grand Prince Gye-seong, and Kang Chan-hee as Prince Ui-seong alongside other cast members.

Envisioning the position taken on by the women residing in the Joseon era, this Korean drama will take us through the struggles and challenges faced by them, especially when concerned with the questions of the throne. While the kings are often seen taking the lead in most kingdoms, women are left behind to cater to their needs or pay attention to the upbringing of their potential future heirs.

The series takes on tvN’s Saturday-Sunday 09.10 PM timeslot previously occupied by Little Women.

The description for the series on Netflix reads: “A spirited queen tries to rein in her rowdy sons in order to make one of them the next king of Joseon, while her competitors vie to snatch the throne.”

The main cast of the show is led by Kim Hye-soo as Queen Im Hwa-ryeong, Kim Hae-sook as Queen Dowager, and Choi Won-young as King Lee-ho. Others joining the show include Moon Sang-min as Grand Prince Sung-nam, Bae In-hyuk as Crown Prince, Yoo Seon-ho as Grand Prince Gye-seong, Kang Chan-hee as Prince Ui-seong. Grand Prince Seong-nam will find out about his brother’s illness and head out to find the most suitable physician for his treatment. Meanwhile, the King plans to discuss the issues of the hut village in Seochon with his princes. Crown Prince’s child is soon to be born but his absence from the scene starts intriguing the other consorts. Will he be able to make it before the time is ripe? Or will Queen Hwa-ryeong be forced to reveal her vulnerable stance to everyone?

Queen Hwa-ryeong accepts Gye-seong’s truth and finds him a way to meet his true identity halfway in an orthodox kingdom which she knows will only use his reality to drag him down. The tension between Hwa-ryeong and Dowager deepens as the two challenge each other overtly for the first time. Gye-seong and Seong-nam advance to the second examination, proving their worth when pitted against the ‘out-of-the-box’ series of questions put forth by their father.
