Uncle From Another World Episode 4 Review- A Pinch Is A Chance

Anger Uncle From Another World Episode 4

This was a great episode that served as a continuation of the previous one. The stage was still the same, with Fujimiya still trying to get into Takafumi’s pants. The entire episode was built around romance and how Takafumi and Uncle’s experiences in that department are quite similar. There were a lot of shenanigans based on how impossibly dense the pair is. The dynamic of them being able to notice each other’s romantic shortcomings but not their own did a lot of work.

Fujimiya is more of a straight-man character than Takafumi is, as his status of being that character is marred by his similarity to the uncle. When he reacts to his uncle doing some crazy nonsense or being dumb, it isn’t that big of a deal because he can be the same, if not more, oblivious about his surroundings. He might not be as one-track-minded as his uncle is about everything there is to do with Sega and 90s gaming, but he is still a heavy introvert with inhibitions that prevent him from seeing how insane everything going on with his uncle is. That is when Fujimiya is needed.

Shy Elf Uncle From Another World Episode 4

More of what Uncle did in his otherworldly adventures is becoming clearer by the episode, as his time there isn’t looking as arduous as Uncle initially made it seem. His social ineptitude clouded his judgment on various things, most importantly his relationship with the bashful elf. Yes, she isn’t the most direct person in the world, but her responses to the uncle make sense when the customs of that particular world are put side by side with the appearance and mannerisms of Uncle. Also, the tone Uncle takes to talk with her is quite suspect, however entertaining their situations might be. No one can deny that he is unknowingly leading her on.

There is something quite charming about the show following isekai tropes in such a way that doesn’t glorify the protagonist in any way. These cliches barely work in proper isekais anyway, and seeing them in this light has exposed them for how fickle and shallow they are. Someone looking like Uncle would be shunned the exact same way that he has been, although the lack of self-awareness is quite a unique issue with him. If a lot of what this reads sounds like something similar to what you’ve read in the reviews of previous episodes of this show, blame the show for being so formulaic and predictable.

The show’s production quality always continues to impress with how good it is despite being so understated. The level of quality that is in the finer details, such as the drops of tears dripping off of Takafumi and the realistic explosion effects, is very high. The character design makes everyone apart from Uncle (and sometimes Takafumi) look very good, and they all have very expressive faces. It is sneakily a very well-made show, something that you wouldn’t know when watching its trailer.

Verdict

Uncle From Another World Episode 4 was a hilarious outing that was very well produced, alongside being an easy watch. The repetition brings the overall quality down, however.
