Still From Tomo-chan Is a Girl

This series is that much-awaited anime adaptation of our beloved romcom manga of the same name. Fans of this franchise are beyond ecstatic that this perfection of a romcom is finally getting the proper treatment it needs, and we are excited to see how it goes.

The anime is directed by Nanba Hitoshi, who has worked on Anime like Fullmetal Alchemist, Hajime no Ippo, Gosick, etc. The sound director is Masanori Tsuchiya, who has given music to shows like Plastic Memories, Kenja no Mago, Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii, etc.

The opening song will be Kurae! Telepathy (くらえ! テレパシー)” performed by Maharajan. The ending theme is “yurukuru*love” performed by voice actors Rie Takahashi, Rina Hidaka, Sally Amaki.

I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

Still From Tomo-chan Is a Girl

Another hilarious episode of Tomo-chan Is a Girl! is here, and we are back again with its review. This episode starts with Tomo, Misuzu and Carol playing the King’s game, where a person becomes the king, and orders others to do stuff for them. In the first round, Carol wins, and she tells Tomo to make an impression of Misuzu; when Tomo struggles to do it, Carol impeccably does it herself.

Then in the next round, Misuzu wins, and she makes Tomo go to Jun to personally invite him for watching the fireworks together. Jun’s response is tamer than usual, making Tomo think if there is something wrong with him. Here, we understand how Jun has finally started to question his feelings for his best friend. This becomes more apparent when Jun sees Tomo in a beautiful Yukata, appearing more gorgeous than ever.

We also witness the conflict Misuzu faces because of the growing attachment between Jun and Tomo. It is apparent, Misuzu is very much attached to Tomo and hence doesn’t want to share her with anyone, even Jun. At the festival, there comes a chance when Tomo could have confessed again, and Jun would have absolutely taken her seriously, but she decides to not do it, as she feels the time is still not right. This segment showcased the growth between Jun and Tomo’s relationship, which is definitely going in the right direction.

The next part was more humour-heavy than the first one. In this segment, Misuzu and Carol get chased by delinquents who previously fought with Jun and Tomo. The funniest part was definitely after Tomo showed up to rescue her friends. She and Jun take proper care of all the bullies, but an unexpected person arrives with his personal vendetta.

I was pretty shocked to see Misaki senpai in rage mode, as he has been one of the sweetest characters in this series. But overall, it was a delightful watch with a balanced dose of comedy and romance.

Verdict

I loved the emotional development in the first half and the humour in the second half. Each and every episode is proving to be a treat for rom-com lovers, and I will definitely suggest this show to everyone. Watch this anime on Crunchyroll.
