The Ultimatum France Episode 9-10 Review: Love, Heartbreak, and Cringe

The Ultimatum France Episode 10 brings an end to the dating reality show that revolved around six dramatic couples looking to reach the final stage of their connection. Furthermore, The Ultimatum France Season Finale finds the love-stricken participants deciding the best way forward for their relationships.

For the unversed, the pair of participants in the show include Catherine, Richy, Lina, Sophianne, Théo, Romane, Andre, Sarah, Aléna, and Benjamin. Moreover, the last two episodes of the season feature the result of their given Ultimatum and its aftermath.

-The Ultimatum France Episode 10 Review Does Not Contain Spoilers-

The Ultimatum France Episode 10 and 9 involve all the usual rounds of back-and-forth quarrels and arguments, which ultimately lead to the process of final decision-making. And also finds the time to provide an ample amount of cringe-worthy moments (which have become a kind of USP of the show). At first, the recent instalment of the dating show leans into a messy outcome of Andre’s proposal, which was also a part of the stale cliffhanger of episode 8.

Andre, who was one of the most “desperate for a marriage” individuals in the series, starts throwing a riff after Sarah feels unsure about his proposal. Moreover, instead of giving her more space and time to analyze the fate of the relationship, he eventually decided to call things to quit and starts to leave in the so-called luxury car.

What happens next, is a repetitive and problematic act of forcing your partner to adjust to the self-centric demands of a relationship, by threatening to break off things as collateral (seriously, even high schoolers don’t play this game now). I still don’t think this is the right way to lay the foundation of your married life, but then again, it’s a dating reality show for a reason.

The Ultimatum France Episode 9 is a constant cringe-fest, that just never seems to stop. Furthermore, one by one, the couples in the show address their ultimatum and reach an obvious conclusion, without missing a beat of self-professed learnings from the show. And if this wasn’t enough, they also end up doing a reunion episode after two months.

The more dating reality shows you watch, the more you understand about their hype. Even though the series is absolutely hollow and unconvincing at its core, I get now, why the audience relates to the sassy drama and artificial moments of affection. It’s like a cringe addiction that you can’t control, that substitutes with the mundane structure of everyday life.

Moreover, whatever the exact case may be, The Ultimatum France Season Finale concludes with all the usual elements and adds nothing new to the table (as if it was something we expected in the first place). It changes gears in terms of the knick-knacks but fails to find any binge-worthy reason at all.
