Kendrick Lamar fans, it is finally time to rejoice and groove to the beats of your favourite singer! The Heart Part 5, the rapper’s first single before the release of his much-anticipated album Mr Morale & The Big Steppers, is out now. This single will mark Lamar’s first new song as a lead artist since 2018 and, well, the singer has made it count with trippy visuals that feature the most prominent names around the globe.
The Heart Part 5 is directed by Dave Free & Lamar, himself and, produced under the banner of pgLang/project3. Christopher Ripley serves as the DOP along with Bashir Taylor as the first AD, Eric Hersey as the production designer and Taylor McNeill as the wardrobe stylist. The trancey visuals of the video feature deepfakes of famous people worldwide which is by DEEP VOODOO. This single, as the name suggests, is the fifth one in Kendrick Lamar’s long-running project of releasing one from The Heart series before the release of his big albums.
The music video for Kendrick Lamar’s latest starts with the quote “I am. All of us,” by Oklama- a nickname the rapper has started using in recent months. He starts the video by saying thank you to his fans and friends down the line and, the real trip begins as Lamar’s face shapeshifts into the faces of different celebrities which include Kanye West, OJ Simpson, Jussie Smollett, Will Smith, Kobe Bryant and Nipsey Hussle.

But, that is not all, for the lyrics sync perfectly with the celebrity in front of our eyes. The lyrics talk about bipolar disorder when West’s face surfaces and, move on to talking about murder and death when we see late Hussle’s face. The music video aims to pay tribute to Lamar’s peers, entertainers, and hip-hop icons.
