The Beginning After the End Episode 7 Recap

The Beginning After the End Episode 8 Review
The Beginning After the End Episode 8: Still

The episode begins by showcasing Arthur and Tessia in their older forms, both undergoing intense training to grow stronger. Tessia, in particular, stands out with her natural talent, managing to manifest and control her powers at just nine years old. This early mastery highlights not only her potential but also her fitting position as the Elven princess. Arthur, on the other hand, may not be as ahead, but he is certainly not falling behind. Under the mentorship of Virion, he begins learning how to control the elements, slowly but steadily stepping into his own power.

However, Arthur’s growth doesn’t come without complications. A strange and powerful energy within him seems to be limiting his potential. This internal force is also responsible for the chest pains he’s suffered from since he was a child. It becomes increasingly clear that this presence is linked to Sylvia, the dragon who once saved him. When Virion realizes what’s going on, he gives Arthur a stern warning, that no matter what, he must never reveal this secret to anyone.

As his training nears completion, Arthur receives unexpected news that he’ll be returning home earlier than planned. While he’s thrilled at the thought of reuniting with his family, the idea of leaving Tessia behind casts a shadow over his excitement. Their bond has grown stronger, and the farewell is not easy.

On the other hand, the mysterious egg that Sylvia entrusted to Arthur finally hatches. To Arthur’s shock and wonder, a baby dragon emerges.

Today’s episode starts with Arthur coming back to his parents and meeting them for the first time after so many years. However, the union, which was supposed to be very emotional and heart-warming, was portrayed very poorly in the anime. We also see Arthur meeting his sister for the first time, who quickly takes a liking to the baby dragon, Sylvie. Here, Arthur tries to tell his parents about his past adventures as honestly as possible but also leaves some key details out.

He just informs them that Sylvie is a mana beast that he found during his travels. Thankfully, we do get some information about the power scaling structure of this universe. Apparently, the colour of mana can go from black to white and darker shades to lighter shades, indicating white and lighter shades are more powerful. Arthur’s father has acquired the orange stage, and impressively, Arthur has already acquired light red.

The biggest highlight of this episode is definitely the part where Arthur spars with his father, Reynolds and showcases his mana abilities for the first time in a battle. We see Arthur unlock advanced fire magic and completely shock his parents. Not only that, but he can also use water elemental magic, which is rare, as usually, a human is unable to acquire multiple powers all at the same time.

The Beginning After the End Episode 8: Still

Though not much happens in this episode other than the union part, we also see some other new characters, like Lilia, who can be an important cast addition in the future. Other than that, this episode was pretty disjointed, with a weak flow in the storyline. Not just the animation but even the writing of the plot is mediocre in this anime. Fans can definitely enjoy this show if they want, but I would suggest just reading the webtoon.
