Today’s episode provided a much-needed reprieve after the intensity of the previous arc. Holo and Lawrence are back on the road, heading towards their next destination in search of more information about Holo’s homeland. The path ahead isn’t straightforward; to find the answers they seek, they need to reach an Abbott who specializes in collecting stories about pagan gods.

However, before they can meet the Abbott, they must first pass through the town of Tereo. Since Lawrence is unfamiliar with the area, they plan to gather information in the town of Enberch, where they are currently headed. This roundabout journey may be tedious, but it’s their only option. Along the way, Lawrence is also looking to trade flour, both to locate the town and to earn some extra money.

The journey itself is calm, with stunning visuals highlighting the peacefulness of the route. But despite the serenity, there’s an unsettling air about Tereo, which feels more like a village than a town. The townspeople aren’t particularly welcoming, and there’s something suspicious about the nun at the local church. How Lawrence and Holo will navigate this situation and continue their journey remains to be seen.

One notable aspect of this episode is the deepening connection between Lawrence and Holo. After the recent events involving Amati, it’s clear that Lawrence has become more certain of his feelings, and Holo is growing more understanding. Their bond feels stronger than ever, and I can only hope that this new town won’t test it too much.

Today, we saw our protagonists mingling with the villagers while trying to get some information out of them. Both Holo and Lawrence go to the local pub and drink to their heart’s content. There, they talk to the locals and find out that this village has not accepted the church even though they have a church built here. On the contrary, they secretly worship a snake God who is said to be protecting them.

This is why their relationship with the church is not friendly, especially the one that is in Enberch. The people from Enberch also tried to force Tereo into submitting to their powers by introducing taxes on them. The conditions were that if they wanted to worship their snake God then they must pay some sort of money to Enberch, and that is how things were run till Father Franz stepped in. Thus, Father Franz was respected in the area but not his faith.

There is also the fact that the current head of the church, Elsa, denied helping our protagonists in any way. Even the village head, knew that Father Franz was looking for pagan stories but pretended they didn’t know anything. This makes Lawrence suspicious, and to further discover the truth, he also goes to the Miller boy, who frequently meets up with Elsa, the current head of the church.

Seeing the problems regarding their stay in the village, Lawrence also confronts Holo about her convictions. What is her actual goal for desperately searching for someone who knows about her hometown which might have been destroyed a long time back? Is she looking for the bear that wreaked havoc or her friends who might have survived?

Verdict

Today’s episode puts forward more mysteries about the village where Holo and Lawrence have currently arrived. The situation inside this village is unstable, and it will be interesting to see what our protagonists achieve here.
