Revenant Episode 1 Recap
Revenant Episode 1 begins with the death of Ku Kang-mo after he opens the door to a ghost who tricks him. On the other hand, his daughter Ku San-young is seen leading a tough life which gets worse after becoming a victim of a voice phishing scam. As she stands on the edge of a bridge, Yeom Hae-sang notices a dark shadow rushing towards her from under the bridge.
Recognising the shadow to be a ghost, he rushes behind it and onto the bridge to save the person it has gone behind. However, he reaches the wrong person and is too late. Meanwhile, San-young feels faint but soon regains consciousness and gets a call from her mother who tells her that the scammer has been caught.

She makes her way to the police station but finds out that the man has already spent the money they have been scammed off. Despair surrounds the two as the mother-daughter pair make their way back home. There, Yoon Kyeong-moon gets the news of her husband’s demise.
She makes her way to her husband’s house with San-young and reveals to her the truth about her father. She tells her that she faked her husband’s death to stop the questions from San-young after their divorce, but now he is really dead which is why she is taking her to his funeral.
San-young is shocked but says nothing and reaches her father’s house. There, she meets her paternal grandmother who brings to her a keepsake left behind by her father. She touches the object in the box and hears the excited voice of a girl which stuns her.
San-young leaves with the object but is shocked when her mother throws it away and tells her not to touch anything in the house. The two then rush to leave when San-young meets Hae-sang while leaving. His eyes fall on her shadow which shows that she has been possessed.

Before Hae-sang can say anything about it, she leaves while he enters the house to ask about Kang-mo’s sudden retirement 15 years ago. Meanwhile, the mother-daughter duo return back to their daily lives, but this time there is something different about San-young. While she oversleeps the morning after their return, what she doesn’t know is that a shadow is here to harm the one she wishes was dead.
Her image in the mirror wakes up and walks to where the scammer lives and drags him away to be killed. Later, San-young wakes up and begins her busy life of working part-time and studying at the same time.
She once again meets Hae-sang and he notices that the shadow has grown in size which means that it has already begun its attack. He tells her about the possession but San-young is not ready to believe in his talks. He tells her that if she wishes for anyone’s death then that person will be killed. San-young doesn’t take him seriously and leaves.

Later, two investigators arrive at her house and tell her about the death of the scammer. This makes San-young doubt but she doesn’t focus much on it. Meanwhile, Detective Seo Moon-choon is intrigued by the case which shows that the scammer had committed suicide. However, it was San-young’s fingerprints that had been found all over the scene as well as on the bruises on his wrist.
Following this, he meets Hae-sang who tells him that the ghost who killed his mother has returned. Moon-choon promises to solve the case of his mother’s murder, however, he chases people and not ghosts.
On the other hand, we see Baek Se-mi moves into a new house which is said to have been possessed by a ghost. She invites her friend San-young for a night out during which they notice middle schoolers taking pictures of them in the middle of the night. San-young chases the teenagers but fails to catch them.
